I am attempting to install windows xp on my computer but when the installation tries to "install devices" it stops working. Any suggestions on what i can try doing to stop this from happening?

It's probably getting hung up on some device you have...try removing all of your expansion cards and then try installing again. Once Windows is loaded, put the cards back in.

Ther are some devices Windows XP just plain does not like. I have many of them installed on my PC. When you first start to load windows, XP will come up adn tell you what devices may have problems installing under XP. Make a note of them and make sure that you have the drivers for them. If not then you will most likley have problems in the future. Once you see what devices XP dislikes you can then disable them or take them out of the PC while you format and reload it. I have 5 hard drives on my machine adn XP hates the entire "controller card for many hard drives things" I unhook all my hard drives except the C Drive to install XP back on the machine.

It depend about what you have installed on HD before and what kind of HD formatting is used. The best is that you firstly save all important files or programs (important by your opinion) on data CD or diskettes. Then formatte HD again (you have not to use NTFS fornatting, can use and usual formatting) and after that install XP. If you got same problem, firstly install win 98 and after that XP. Best Regards and veradisca! Neven.

first of all check ur pc's compatability with windows.
normally most of the PC's are compaitable for Win XP.
if ur system is compaitable then the problem is with the CD on which windows file are burned.

yes there may be scratches on that cd. u have to install from some other cd.
