WHAT THE ADMENDMENT SAYS IS THAT A PRESIDENT SHALL SERVE NO MORE THAN TWO TERMS. IT ONLY SAYS TWO CONSECTIVE TERMS, NOT TWO TERMS TOTAL, SO HE CAN RUN AGAIN NEXT TIME AROUND. MY TEACHER TOLD ME THIS, AND SAID THAT CLINTON CAN RUN AGAIN, EVEN THOUGH HE SERVED AS PRESIDENT FOR 2 TERMS, HE SAT OUT FOR 2, SO HE IS ALLOWED TO RUN AGAIN. THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD, THAT A PRESIDENT CAN RUN AS MANY TIMES AS HE WANTS, JUST NO MORE THAN 2 IN A ROW. CHECK YOUR ADMENDMENTS, BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT I WAS TAUGHT.

The amendment is very clear. It is against the law for anyone to serve more than a total of two terms. The word "consecutive" is not used at all. Bush and Clinton can never, no matter what, serve as President again.

Amendment XXII
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

But it still says no more than 2 terms. They can run, but not serve. They served 2 terms, and 2 terms consecutively. I don't see them seeking anymore time in office.

You said it yourself, a president shall serve no more than two terms.

Calm down.

no offense but your teacher is an idiot, Bush will not be able to serve again, neither will any other president that has already served two terms. And especially not Clinton, he was impeached. I dont know where your teacher got his/her credentials but he/she needs to go back to school.

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice"

It seems clear enough. Where did you see the word "consecutive"?

2 terms total....tell your teacher to get a refresher course....even tho it would be great if laura ran against hillary...hillary would be humiliated by a librarian who never had politics as a vocation.....
