First off, don't trust Pest-Capture! It's a bogus program to trick you into buying it.

Download the following five programs:

1) CCleaner does an excellent job cleaning up temporary internet files, cookies, temp files, recycle bin, and prefetch folder.

2) If you don't have an antivirus program, EITHER AVG and Avast -- only install ONE.

3) Hitman Pro will let you automatically install, update, and run in Safe Mode many of the best free and free-to-try antispyware programs all with one click, including Spybot Search & Destroy, Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE, SpywareBlaster, Ewido, and free trials of Webroot Spysweeper and PCTools SpywareDoctor. The free version of Spybot Search & Destroy allows autoupdates, but Hitman Pro helps in keeping the others up to date with one click.

4) Winsockfix which is used to fix your internet connectivity if cleaning up malware breaks your internet connection.

5) Hijackthis which catalogs the places programs (both legitimate and malicious) are usually found, so that an expert can tell you if there's anything nasty remaining.

First, run CCleaner to clean out temporary files. In the Advanced section only check off "Old Prefetch data". Then click on Issues and scan for issues. Have it fix them all and make backups in case something gets erased that shouldn't (although I've never had problems with CCleaner's issue fixes). Then Scan for issues again until you get "No issues found". Then click on Tools and uninstall programs you don't want, and while in Tools click on Startup to remove things you don't want starting automatically. If you're unsure what you need to keep you can google for advice or email me with your questions.

Then update your antivirus program and then reboot into Safe Mode to run a full scan, then reboot after cleaning up what it found.

Then run Hitman Pro with the Safe Mode box checked. Reboot after cleaning up what it found.

Now run Hijackthis with the "Scan and Save Logfile" button, and email me the hijackthis.log, and I can advise you if there's any malware still there.

If your internet connection isn't working after removing malware, run Winsockfix.

Oh dear! It looks like you've found out the hard way just how insecure Microsoft Windows is! You really need to use a whole load of other people's software to help hold Windows together. Of course, you thought Microsoft software was OK to use :(

For now, you can use SUPERAntiSpyware

http://www.superantispyware.com/ (FREE)

and AVG (FREE)

http://free.grisoft.com/

To help plug the Windows leaks a little longer and clear up this spyware and adware hell that using Microsoft software has brought you in to.

But remember that even though you've cleaned this one out, Microsoft Windows is still vulnerable!

* Make sure you always run up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.
* Always install all Microsoft security updates as soon as they come out.
* Ensure you have a properly configured firewall.
* Never use Internet Explorer (use Firefox instead) or MSN Messenger (Use GAIM or Trillian).
* Never download anything you don't understand.
* Never click on any ad banners.
* Never use any "P2P" file sharing programs.
* Consider the upgrade to Linux or Mac OS X to be free of adware / spyware / trojans

I suggest you shut down your computer now otherwise you could end up in frozen waste land. Happened to a computer I use and I had to clean whole computer and redownload windows and everything. Just like it was brand new. once someone does that for you down load some new spywear which you can get at any office supply store pretty cheap. Most of the free ones are only good for a year and then you have to re register them and it costs. they too need to make a buck.there is also the possibility that if you downloaded a "test" it may be what infected your computer.

As for previous comment about Windows being much more vulnerable compared to Linux, true and false. Default Windows install is very vulnerable, a lot of settings need to be changed in order for your computer to be secure, but I have not found Linux to be any more secure than Windows when both are locked down.

Be smart, lock down some settings and you should be fine.

you want Antivirus utility and secret agent ware scanning utility. There are 2 unfastened secret agent ware scanners that I even have used: advert-conscious and Spybot. the two do a first rate job yet I even have had extra efficient luck with advert-conscious. in case you run the two a sort of and you nevertheless have some pop-united statesor some variety of secret agent ware putting around, you are able to acquire a 60-day trial of Prevx1. that's large and totally functional for the 60 days. For a deadly disease scanner, i might acquire the unfastened version of AVG. It does a superb job. i think of AVG additionally makes a secret agent ware scanner, yet I even have in no way used it in my opinion.
