Well Monica it is not The amount of CO2 that they take in . It is the total number of plants even down to algae . The oceans are full of plants so it is 3 dimension. The plants take in CO2 and hold on to the C and give us the oxygen . The C that the plant holds on to will accelerate plant growth. So the present size can get much larger. Plants have done this for millions of years I know because they make it into fossil fuels . That is where all our fossil fuels came from.
