We are responsible to ourselves. Although our deeds have a massive impact on our own surroundings and the people around us, but the one who's affected is the do-er.

A greedy person is responsible for his greed. He may cheat, loot, or work hard to satisfy his greed. However, at a point of time he realises 'Rich is not the one who has too much but the one who is satisfied in very little'. At this point of time, he would accept that he himself was responsible for his actions, for being blinded by the greed. It's the same with almost all the so called sins.

One the other hand, a co-operative person is responsible for his co-operation. He may face a lot of problems in his acts, but at the end he is the one who would smile to the fullest, satisfied by his life.

People usually blame circumstances to be responsible for their wrongdoings. Had they considered being a bit more tolerant, a bit more patient, a bit more hardworking, a bit more respectful, a bit more of responsibilities, etc. things around them would have been different.

All the best...

:-)

I am sure some people will answer "God" or "the secular law"...and while both may have some basis in truth...the person we are MOST responsible to for our deeds is ourselves.

Philisophically, no one, unless we make a social contract with them to do or not do certain things. Which we do. So we're responsible to the others with whom we interact, including all our fellow countrymen, with whom we have the contract of being fellow countrymen. That is why it is ok to kill foreigners but it is murder to kill our countrymen. Also, the contracts become more and more binding and prominent, the closer we get to each other, such as co-workers, friends, loved ones and family.

we are responsible to our selves first, because our deeds are by our own choices, from there it the choices we make that we are responsible to God for the deeds we have committed.

~~~ Aauumm,,,,,The "who" in your supposition can only refer to The Self,,, and according to The Law of Karma we are Accountable for ALL of our Actions,,,OR. one can consider The Concept of "The Gestalt" or "Supreme Conciousness", in that we are merely individual parts of A Whole, or Collective Conciousness, and are only under the illusion of Maya that we appear to be different(allusion to your "Hallucination Q" that I chose not to answer), which includes ALL Lifeforms, then we are indeed Stewards of Earth (responsible for our "mother"?) ENTIRELY and must nurture this Wisdom that we may ALL conduct ourselves accordingly,,, afterall, we are The Ones who are supposedly the 'highest' of all lifeforms.
Jeffrey Dahmer assumed that the correct answer was himself...
Look where that got him.
I believe that we are each and all accountable to and responsible for one another.
Under God who knows better than to ever let any of it get to you...
In the end, no one. It is only a play. Of course some see karma as a God.
Only ourselves because whatever we decide, we are the only ones to live with the consequences.
That is for each person to decide for himself. Most faiths (outside of christianity) will tell you that you are responsible to yourself but that everything you do will come back to you three fold of what you have done. Christianity is one of the only faiths that holds you to be judged by a higher power.
