I think they're caused by people wanting to be skinny. I don't think you're born with it.

They are legitimate diseases, I know. Most people claim its as simple as a person wanting to be skinny or wanting attention and all they have to do is pick up that sandwich and eat, it's not that simple. I used to look in the mirror and see someone that was a size 13 when in reality I was barely fitting a size 0. It's not something you're born with and it usually starts with a simple diet but when a person struggling with it you really cannot see what everyone around sees and your mind becomes obsessed with you weight or lack of for that matter. But yeah ALL eating disorders are diseases, be it Anorexia, Bulimia or EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified)

Yes they are diseases in the same way that drug addiction, alcohol abuse, etc. are diseases. I've dealt with bulimia for many years, it nearly ruined my life and my health and I certainly wasn't doing it for attention or to lose weight. It is real, real, real, and people suffering from it need treatment. Some people have it more severe than others, but it's real nonetheless.

They are most certainly legitamate diseases...it is not just for attention...sometimes it can be, but not usually. I completely disagree with that blog...when I can get away with not eating I do that, but when there is family around that is trying to make me eat I just eat, then go to the bathroom and throw it up...
