Again, ask you doctor. The twitching might be a concern.
It's important for children to take a little nap every 3 hours or so during the day. Even a five minute nap in your arms is okay. Check the temperature in his room to make sure it's not too hot or cold. Children can get overtired if they don't nap during the day and this makes it hard for them to sleep at night.
Please discuss with your doctor...your son should have a 4 month check-up and vacinations in a week or two.

Not sure about the twitching - they do seem to startle easy and nap (like a cat).. I think we all turn or twitch? Is he on his side or back?
As far as sleeping through the night make sure the baby is really fed well after a warm bath and dark room.
It's alright to soon introduce a little cereal if your doctor is for that. They eventually just sleep longer - when they get a little heavier or eat more.

My son got very active in his sleep at this age as well. I could hear his feet hit the crib mattress all night! They are just now getting control over their limbs and as you will soon learn, anything they learn new they really like to try out at night! Talk to your doctor about it just in case though.
Your son may like to be swaddled. This keeps them feeling nice and cozy and will restrict their arms from twitching around and waking them up.
As far as the through the night thing, alot of it has to do with you going in there and engaging him at night. If you have a good structured napping and sleeping schedule then that is really the first step. After that you just want to make sure his tummy is nice and full before bed (also try a 10 or 11 p.m. night feeding. You don't wake him up just rub his lips with the bottle a few times and if he is hungry he will latch on) diaper is dry and he is dressed appropriately. If he wakes up at night, make sure he is not just making night time noises before you go in. Baby's wake up at night and many just go back to sleep on their own, unless you go in. So make sure you are truly needed first. If he is awake and crying, go check on him. Is he hot, cold, wet, teething, uncomfortable. If he is wet or dirty go in change his diaper, don't talk do play nothing just quickly and quietly change the diaper. Lay him back down.
It may take you a while to get it. If he is eating at night still, increase he day time consumption. So if he is eating 4 oz at night and he has 4 feedings during the day increase each feeding by 1oz.
Good Luck

Make sure he is full when you put him to bed. He'll sleep better on a full tummy. Also try not to let him nap after 5pm. Make sure he is warm enough or not too hot. And put a fresh diaper on him before bedtime. He might do well if you give him a warm bath before bed. That has always helped calm my son down.

Dont allow him to nap after 430 or so and make sure his tummy is full and diaper is dry, that worked for my children and they would wake up pretty early so they got a nap afternoonish, then went to bed around 8 or so but every baby is going to wake up with a dirty diaper or hungry so just do a quick job and back to bed. Good luck

sounds over tired to me! my lil one actually has a harder time falling and staying asleep when hes over tired. Also the muscle twitching thing is normal for being overtired too!
try putting him down earlier by 1/2 hour to an hour and see if that helps.

Take him to the doctor and have them check him for sleep apinia(sp?) Basically, they stop breathing for a few seconds usually because their tounge falls back into their throat. Just to be safe I would prop him up on pillows so that his head is above his chest. Good luck

I would check with the doctor pronto. Either everything is ok and you'll get some advice, or this is symptomatic of something serious--let you doctor decide.
