They have never served, know little to nothing about the military, yet they post all of these ridiculous questions, and then call the people who answer them liars.
Why do they pollute the military pages? We need to get a hippies page added so they can trade their propaganda and waste their own time rather than the people who really want legit answers.
zztopn. You say that I am a faux vet? Give me your email so I can send you pictures of my smiling face as I crouch over dead bodies. Or, we can meet up and I can show you my scars after I give you some of your own. Let me know.

Oh well, thanks to the vets for their support.

And yes, someone who has HONORABLY served would say what I have said. You obviously haven't served, and there for have no idea how a Marine grunt views things.

to add to my above addition, yes, it makes me smile if someone was trying to kill me but I got them first. I'm smiling right now thinking about it

Hoorah brother, theres a bunch of washed up hippies from the late 60's who want one last chance to spit on the troops (again) so they come here and talk in regards to military issues as though they knew something. The only thing they know about the military is how to hate the troops.
I mean I dont talk about what its like to be a hippy and interfere in their policies so why do they concern themselves with the military so often when they arent even an active member or a supporter of anything government, especially not military.
Edit:
""Or, we can meet up and I can show you my scars after I give you some of your own."
Would someone who served honorably say something like that? "
- See this is a perfect example. Not knowing anything about the military. Being in the military isnt like in the commercials where everythings all brave and honorable.. sometimes vets get pissed of and kick someone's as* for being a dumbf*ck and the only response the recieving party has is "is this what someone who would "proudly" serve would say???"
These people done deserve your time grunt.
Edit 2: @ The Cat
"Oh, and btw--Hippies can be damn good soldiers too. "
WHAT in the F*CK....... This can't be real. The bong smoke is so thick in this forum im about to pass out.

I think you bring up a very interesting point, although, I really do think what you're saying is the only alternative to actual life experience. Research, research, research. Spend as many hours as necessary in the library surrounded by books on the subject and news reels, even video footage. Meet people who have the first hand experience. Let them talk, tell all they have to say and absorb all you can. Even go to a military base (for that military science fiction novel) and ask in advance if they could help you with the research, maybe you could even get into a battle simulation. Travel to the battle site, wherever that may be, and take in the details - never underestimate the power of note-taking. There are many creative ways to research topics about which you have minimal knowledge. But I do agree, there is NOTHING like truly experiencing whatever it is for yourself. That's when you just, get it. But don't forget about imagination :)

I was just wondering the same thing. Most of them are High School kids who just spout the stuff that they get from their punk music. I used to be into punk until they became too political. Most of these high school kids were probably only about 8 or 9 years old when President Bush was elected, and then they think it's their right to spout their anti-American rhetoric that they trade in the lunchroom. I'm also a vet, and I've been serving since 98, well before the war on terror, and I'll continue serving as long as I'm allowed.

I know quite a few Viet Nam Vets that came back to the States and took up the Hippie way of life and ideals, with a stronger conviction about paece and love due to the Viet Nam Conflict.

I've wondered the same thing, but you put it in such nice terms. Hehe.
It would be great if there was a way to validate who the real vets are as opposed to the limp wristed hippy cowards that would never even consider defending this country.

I have to agree with you. I am really tired of other people's assumptions when they know nothing of what it means to serve your country. And if anyone knew anything of the way it goes with the troops being overseas, is that the military will always have soldiers and sailors overseas forever. Thats the way it is and the way it has been. I don't mind the questions about whta its like. But all these assumptions and accusations, is what pisses me off!!!!

From what I can tell...most of these people are probably very young...or just hate the government...many hate the President...I asked a question about two weeks ago..."Where were the anti-war protests when I was in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, and Kosovo?" I did not get one answer...the reason is that they did not hate Clinton...well I hate Clinton and I have a reason I served under that ball sack for 9 years and he treated us like crap...most people have a very short memory...they blame everything on the President, where if they would look, most stuff goes back to Clinton...lack of flack vest (Clinton cut our budget year in and year out) WRAMC (Budget cuts)....9/11, Bin Laden cites Clinton pulling out of Somalia as his motivation...I tell you I do not answer any of those questions anymore...they give me a headache...I find it hard to believe people are that stupid...but I guess they are...if they have no answer they say you are fake...I also can send pictures and tell them which units I was in...most of them are in the 108th Keyboard BN...lol...

Some may actually have some valid questions. I know some don't, but there are mindless turds on every page on Yahoo Q&A.
I support all of our troops. I just think we need to get them home.

I don't mind the folks who haven't served and make that clear. I am more annoyed by the folks that are trying to pass themselves off as Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen/Marines that don't know jack about the service.
