last year we got a new supervisor.. a 21 yr old man fresh out of school.. he came to our plant knowing nothing about how it worked.. he ignored safety rules and built things wrong.. the discrimination came when he told me and a few others that he could just rid of all of us and hire Mexican and that they would work for less.. eat together.. sleep together.. etc..now this man is not Mexican.. blonde hair blue eyes.. and my bf who is half Mex.. any way he had my bf doing half of his job and thinking he would get the assistant position.. and then he tell him he would not give it to him because he could not speak Spanish.. and that he knew to much about the product...the thing is the new supervisor could not speak Spanish eighter..he lasted about 6 wks..and we all begged for this other man to be our supervisior.. a black man who had been supervisior to other dept before and always demotted for some stupid reason.. that has been several months ago and it looks like we may get to keep him

I was young naive, Innocent, and believed all Americans were equal. I joined the military and had more experiences with a farm than people. I got to boot camp and the mix of people was like looking at a rainbow. I saw the groups separate into the people that were like them Latino groups, black groups, and white groups. The awakening came for me to be a leader and get a mixed group to stick together. It was hard for me to accept that when were were at so called "work" there was a different feeling from the people than when they were off, had a choice who they would be around and when I came up how they would treat me. My innocence was destroyed. I found the treatment I received made me feel less than and more than when my group was at "work". I have never been one to hate but I find thoughts I do not like. I always hope the thoughts are never spoken. I have weak moments just like every body so, when will it be my turn to fall to the weakness and speak my mind. I only hope the words do not come from ignorance and are well informed. For me I always want to do the right thing. I want to believe we are all, all of us who have lost this innocence, control the painful feelings{ from the school yard type contact} but you will have thoughts. It is not nice to make people feel less than.

When I attended junior high in Detroit many years ago the class's most beautiful girl--a black--sat next to me on a city bus. The black boys behind us did not appreciate that gesture at all. As a result, the next day after I had sharpened my pencil, I turned around and was knocked to the floor--cold ****** with no warning.

I sported a black eye for the class photo take. I never knew who had hit me, but a black friend had told me, "I'll take care of it."
