You should contest it. You will get off, because the ticket only mentions one space.
But be more careful next time - I HATE it when people hog two parking spots.

Depends on what state your in. In New Jersey the summons is not taken at face value. There can be an error on a parking ticket and you will still pay the fine. It will go to the testimony of the police officer or parking enforcement agent.

I would definitely contest it - bring up the poor/obscured markings.
Also make note of the fact that the ticketing officer wrote down the same meter # twice.
If you contest it - and the cop that wrote the ticket doesn't show up - you might just walk.
Otherwise, make sure you've got your story straight, and you may be able to talk your way out of it.

Even though the lines weren't visible, the meters were. You're only defense is if you put money in both meters, but then you would be admitting without a doubt to the violation. It probably would have been cheaper just to buy an umbrella.

I am sorry but you not being able to see the sign isn't the officers fault. You deserved the ticket.
Pay it.
Ignore Sarge, parking tickets don't affect anything, not your insurance, nor your driving record. Only moving violations do.

You can contest it, it doesn't hurt to try, but I think you have a good chance since there appears to be an error on your ticket.
