I live in Indiana, but recently got a speeding ticket in Ohio. I have the address to send my payment, but I am gonna be about a week late in doing so. I'm assuming they might suspend my license until it is paid, but once they receive payment I will be reinstated. Is this true? Is there anything else I should know about? I am not familiar with Ohio laws.

you need to call them. If you need a little extra time paying they will be very accommodating, it happens all the time. But if you don't call them you will have a suspended license.

The biggest issue I've seen has been where a payment was late and instead of making contact with the courts, the issue was ignored.

There was a telephone contact number listed upon the summons you can call to talk to the court personnel. Advise them you've sent the check but it will be a week late. They should be able to provide an extension without any problems.

Best wishes.

Call the phone number and let them know your money is on the way, but will be late.

Chances are, your license won't be affected because it's a different jurisdiction. Make sure you retain proof of payment, either credit card or bank statement, just in case.

You'll end up having to pay an extra penalty for being late but they can't suspend your license that quickly. They need a court hearing to do that.
