I never got a parking ticket before. I parked in the meter last night because just this year the city decided to put up meters around the dorms at my college to get money. I forgot to move my car last night to the garage, and I got a ticket for expired time. I understand that. But I got a ticket for parking in two meters also. Last night was rainy and dark, I couldn't see the lines, and it wasn't my fault that the other car was parked farther down too, so I just parked the way the other cars were lined up. Do I HAVE to pay this or can I contest, what would be easier?

ALSO...my car is registered in a different city, but same state... if I don't pay it and don't get another ticket, will anything happen?

If it was your school's police, the most they can do is keep you from graduating until you pay. If it's the city police, then they can suspend your license.

Pay the tickets and don't do it again! They can hit you to change registration and a whole bunch of other things that can cost you more than the tickets likely. If you choose not to pay them at all be prepared to go to jail at some point should you encounter the law for any reason.

When your court date passes, and you didn't either show up or pay the fine, a bench warrant will be issued. Also since they now have to do administrative things, the price will increase dramatically. If you are ever stopped, the warrant will come up, and you will get a free ride to jail while the tow truck comes to take away your car.

So, pay some now, or a bunch later, your choice.

It's all connected somewhere.
Here's what will happen in short...
Your tickets will go to warrant and your license will be suspended. If you still drive, even if you are not notified of an expired license, you get to spend some time in jail until your court date.
Good luck.

They could put a boot on your car. It's a largeclamp which goes on thewheel and you cannot drive your car.

Then the fees start to pile up.
Just pay it.

You can fight it but if you lose you have to pay otherwise your license will be suspended. If it happened in a different state, they would suspend your license in that state.
