how do u eat a spinach bread bowl....i never did that before??

i recently went to a dinner party and was embarrassed. someone made a nice spinach dip inside a giant bread bowl. i wanted some of the bread and spinach. nice presentation -- but how do i go about cutting and eating this?? are u even supposed to cut the bread - why put the spinach dip in the bread if u can't eat it.....

* thanks - i suspect she had bread pieces at one point but by the time i got over there it was just a bread bowl with some spinach in it. it was a graduation party at nite.

When I've made that exact same thing, I cut up an extra loaf of bread into cubes to go around the bread bowl on the platter. By the time those were gone, people start ripping off bread from the bowl with their hands. (And this was a nice dinner party). The host should have had other crudites to start out with so by the time the level of the dip got low enough the bread could start to be torn off. But it is perfectly acceptable in nice company to eat with your hands like that. Otherwise there's just a shell of bread left and the host wonders why nobody touched the bread.

Your hostess should have served it up with pieces of bread on the side--and made sure there was bread to dip for the remainder of the night or until the dip is all gone, the bread bowl is mostly for presentation. Honestly though, once the spinach dip is all mostly gone I would ask the hostess if I could have a piece of the bowl.... it's probably really yummy.

The bread bowl is for PRESENTATION only, dear. You don't eat the bowl, it's to make the food LOOK pretty not for eating.

You eat the spinach dip with other bread, crackers, etc. and for the love of god leave the bread bowl alone.

The bowl is a novelty..Don't eat the bread.
Other breads used for bowls for soup, salads, ect, are fine to eat. They are served to the individual. The community bread bowl os off limits.

I consume numerous banh mi and Subway, get a BLT or a enormously spiced Italian or in step with danger a Pastrami yet get it on toasted jalapeno bread. the 1st 2 are 5 greenbacks, so it wont evaluate to the two for 5 greenback banh mi yet they are good none the less.
