Here's your answer from me.

Long distance relationships are very difficult. Many times there will be plenty of insecurity and jealousy, because of the inability to see each other often.

The better way, it to get to know each other well enough that one transfers to the other state. That takes time.

I would suggest that they dig deep into each others lives, and find out if they really do have a chance before jumping into something that may cause them to lose their good friendship. A few personal visits will also help them to know if it is worth pursuing.

Why is this of your concern? I'm sure you may be curious but I'm always curious at to what advice to give friends and family, but I'm sure Erik will figure this one out on his own. A lot of times people get caught up in what they can't have and absence makes the heart grow founder. If the two of them feel like they can a handle a long distance thing then let them try it. I'm pretty sure by the summer & the weather warms up in New York, Erik may become more interested in someone that's nearer to him.

Well, they need to decide this. Long distance relationships are a lot of work, and dont always work. It is hard to for two people to be in different places and have a good relationship. If they go for it, they may end up relocating. Support your friend if that is what he chooses, no way to know if they are right for each other if they don't try.

Honestly its up to them to make the decision, not you.
