So I just opened a Roth IRA and fully funded 2006 and 2007. I was just told that I might have to amend my 2006 tax return. Is this true?

You do not report Roth IRA contributions to the IRS, so no you don't have to amend your return.

Contribution to a Roth does not appear on your 2006 tax return, as long as you were qualified to contribute.

probably not, since Roth IRA's are contributed too with after tax money - but check with the IRS to make sure since the US tax code is now at around 75,000 pages and I am sure you could get in trouble for not knowing some minute detail hidden within that mountain of stupidity.
