It depends on the amplifier application. There's all kinds of amplifiers that are designed to do different jobs such as audio, broadcasting, radar, sonar, instrumentation, transceivers, networks, deep space reception, servo and so on. Basic specifications include frequency, frequency bandwidth, sensitivity, input power, output power, dynamic range, intermodulation distortion, linearity, phase tracking, duty cycle, harmonic distortion, solid state, vacuum tube, magnetron, klystron, laser, cooling, etc. So if you have a particular amplifier application in mind, you should mention what it is and you'll get a better answer to your question.
