I am in the process of changing to a very healthy lifestyle. I work out three times a week and I eat healthy and try to work in low calorie foods. For breakfast I usually eat a peanut butter sandwich with no jelly on whole wheat bread. Will this hurt my weight loss goals? If so what else should I eat for breakfast on the go?

There is also research to suggest that roasted peanuts like those found in peanut butter are actually better for you than raw nuts. Only downside is there is a lot of calories and a bit too much fat.

It depends on what kind of peanut butter you're using. Some brands add corn syrup and oils, among other things, that definitely make it not as good for you. I suggest going for the all natural brands that have only peanuts and maybe a little salt. Just read the ingredients to verify what you're getting.

Even natural peanut butter has a relatively high fat content. Though this fat is good fat, you still want to be careful not to exceed caloric intake since fat is calorie dense compared to the other macronutrients. Otherwise, it's very healthy for you, full of protein, good fats and fiber (the all natural kind that is).

Depends on what type of peanut butter you are eating. Name brands like "Skippy" have hydrogenated vegetable oils which isn't a good for you.

Although most of the fat in peanut butter is of the monunsaturated and polyunsaturated variety's(good fats) which can help lower blood cholesteral levels. Peanut butter is also an excellent source of protein. The only thing I would say is not to overdue it with peanut butter simply because it still is very high in calories.

Other good choices for a breakfast on the run would be instant oatmeal(check for various sugar content) and dried fruit. Oatmeal is a great souce of both soluble insoluble fibers which can lower cholesterol levels. Oats are also a good source of many nutrients including vitamin E, zinc, selenium, copper, iron, manganese and magnesium.

Well, its good and bad. Just like all foods too much of peanut butter can be fatal LOL, but having a nice pb & j sandwich once a day a couple of times a week is okay. Just dont indulge too much by eating out of the jar with a spoon.

peanut butter is good for your because protein builds muscle, pb also keeps u full longer, and the fat in nuts doesnt clog ur arteries if u keep it in moderation. i like peanut butter too, but i have gotten sick of it because i need variety, so add some veggies like stir fry with chicken. very good.

It's better than saturated fat, but it is still fat, so use it sparingly. You will stay full longer if you add a serving of fruit and a serving of veggies to each meal, including breakfast.

that is not really a good breakfast.

for breakfast you want a high quality protein source (nuts are not high quality protein). and you also want a sufficient amount of carbohydrates from a low GI source like whole oats. the body really doesn't need any fat in the first couple of meals. save that for later in the day as the carbohydrate intake is decreased
