I think that at that time the world was restricted to what Jesus could see from the top of the mountain.

I've actually seen this response to the question, "Why is America not mentioned in the Bible?" "Only God knows why He did not mention America in the Bible." Yeah thanks, that clears it right up! Here's a statement on that subject from one of our "favorites" around here CARM (Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry): "The Bible makes no mention of the United States, Mexico, Canada, or South America. Nor does it speak of Australia, Madagascar, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Japan, Korea, etc. There are far more countries the Bible has not mentioned than those it has. At the risk of sounding a little judgmental, we must be careful not to think too highly of ourselves, particularly regarding the greatness of the United States and somehow think that we should be mentioned in the Scriptures." Riiight, *we must not think too highly of ourselves*. But the same organization also has articles on their website about other religions that are filled with lies and misinformation and bragging about Christian superiority. Contradict much? So, KDP187 thinks anything not mentioned in the Bible isn't real? Wow - I'd be curious to see how that person lives - clearly he can't drive a car, use electricity, and other such things that are not mentioned in the Bible. Oh but wait, he posted a question on the internet, meaning he used a computer! How could that be? Surely computers and the internet are not real!

There is no mention of Japan or the Polynesian Islands, probably because they are Scripturally insignificant. However, the books of Daniel and Revelation speak mention a country that would rise up out of a sparsely populated area around 1798 which would espouse civil and religious liberty, and start out Christian, but would end up speaking like a Dragon (the devil). Sounds like the United States to me.

It isn't.
Don't expect it.
At that time North America was not called North America.
Neither was Japan, Japan.
However, just before Jesus went away, he said to his followers:
"YOU will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Ju·de′a and Sa·mar′i·a and to the most distant part of the earth." Acts 1:8
That's a slight hint Jesus realized there were other areas on the globe.
As well, Matthew 24:14 . . .
"this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations..."

As the Bible is the story of God's redemption of man, and the American Continent did not play into that story, God did not waste paper by having his people write about it.

The Bible already runs 3.6 million words in length. Did you really want him to add more about unimportant things?

They're not, unless you just consider references to the world as a whole. I hear the _Book of Mormon_ is all about Jesus' travel in the Americas, but I haven't read it and don't know how authentic it is, so I can't give any details.

They aren't. Are you hinting that the Bible must be false because of this, or am I reading too much into your question? If it is the former, ask yourself whether God, who chose to reveal himself to a specific, small group of people in one region of the world, would have any reason to tell them about far away lands. If he had done that, he might as well have shown them a cure for cancer and given them airplanes.

After Jesus' resurrection, he spoke to the disciples and told them, "Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold". . . He was talking about the people of the American continent. He went to them and taught them the truth he taught to the people of the Middle East.
It's in the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ

it is interesting that you ask, in the book of revelations ch. 13 it speaks of a beast like a lamb rising up out of the earth not waters with 2 horns and eventually speaks like a dragon.
much of america in it's beginnings was symbolized by the # 13, 13 stars, 13 stripes, 13 colonies...etc. this(the lamb) is like our american buffalo. america has 2 horns or powers, political and ecclesiactical. out of america rises a beast or you can say an image unto the beast much like the 1st beast/pope over the holy roman empire. this image which rises up are the daughters which came out of the great whore(roman catholicism) which is known as the protestant reformation or protestantism. they became whores just like their mother. the mind is the womb of the spirit and they corrupted their minds with the same false doctrines that roman catholicism did. roman catholicism was organized at a council known as the nicean council in 325 ad. the protestants organized in our day at a council known as the world council of ecumenical churches in 1948. in doing so, they united back with there mother in this one world church in direct violation of the commandment of God that they obeyed long ago to come out of her my people be not a partaker of her sins and plagues(rev. ch18) they are at war against God and His Christ by doing this.
plus they both have a vatican as their headquarters. vatican 1 in rome where the pope sits and vatican 2 in new york city. see the beast and it's image that rises out of america? don'treceive their doctrines(mark in the forehead) or join up with them(mark in the right hand). it means spritual death if you do.
