Why do people always say that?

Sorry its got to be tea for me pg tips I'm on at the moment but i sometimes drink tetley tea as well,i hate instant coffee i will sometimes have a cappuccino,or a latte,milky coffee usually camp.I can honestly say i have never heard that expression used before but i will mention it to some friends.

I heard it loads of times it probably comes from dating when you get home you usually ask the other person are you coming in for coffee when you really mean fancy a sh*g
