No because they make you seem easy and a little slutty
somebody called it a tramp stamp and that is sort of what it is. Just have a nice smooth lower back and show it off, that is all you need to do,forget the tatoo. Guys already look down there so you dont need a tatoo to attract anymore attention.

Personally I think they are very sexy, provided they are small and tasteful. I dont like those great big awful ones that cover half the back just looks cheap. Remeber though that having this done is a life time thing you may like it now, but you also got to think about 30 / 40 years down the line. Just make sure you know what you are getting into, and do whats right for you, not for anyone else but for you.
Good luck

Hi, I know what your thinking, 'not another female's answer ' but I wanted to share this with you. I had my first tattoo done around 5 weeks ago, which is on my lower back. I am in a long term relationship and we are engaged. He didnt mind me getting one and doesnt think anything less of me for it. Yet just last night as we lay going to sleep I felt his finger on my back, I asked what he was doing and he replied ' tracing the outline of your tattoo - I really like it.' It was such a lovely thing to do and say, yet so simple. It made me feel over whelmed really and it brought us closer last night, sounds stupid but it did.

I guess what Im saying is that if you want one done then do it. Any man will accept you just as you are, tattooed or not.

They were all the rage once upon a time but not anymore. As you can see from the other answers guys have all sorts of names (and those are only a few) for back tatoos.

Hate tattoos of any type on a woman. Why so many of them need to have this picture at the bottom of their spine is beyond me. And, Seja, it's not hidden. With those cut-off tops a lot of women wear, they only have to bend slightly for any reason and there it is in all its glory (usually just above where the thong's peeping out).
These women are copying a trend, have no minds of their own and no individuality.
Don't do it!

For me it's one of those things that WAS nice, but because so many people have them any trace of 'individuality' and meaning has gone out the window.

Maybe you could come up with something really unique, either in terms of the design, or where you have it. Also, why not get a henna one done for the summer, then if you still like it you could get a permanent one.

Good luck!

There is a reason they are called "tramp stamps". One on the lower back is considered a bullseye, you know what I mean?

Nothing like letting every man know just what kind of woman you really are...thank you from the male race.

I have been told if you get a lower back tattoo you can not get an epidural something to think about. Also the more fat on the are the less pain!

Yeah, don't. I know I'm not a guy, but all my guy friends call the "tramp stamps". I'd think of something else to get tattooed. I have a tattoo, but not on my lower back. Not because it's a "tramp stamp", but because everyone on this Earth has one... ICK!

I know I'm a girl, but I have a lower back tattoo and my husband considers it to be very hot indeed. Plus its hidden which makes it a kind of nasty (in a good way) secret. Also, you don't have to worry about it going wrinkly when you get old.

Getting it done does hurt like a mother though!
