You will be carted away and never heard from again...
OK, maybe not. But the IRS does prosecute people who don't file. It would depend on how much you owe and how long since you last filed. There are lots of variables.

If you didn't make enough to be required to file, then nothing will happen.

If you are required to file but had enough withheld to cover the taxes you owe, probably nothing will happen, except you won't get your refund if you have one coming.

If you owe taxes, then sometime down the line (probably at least a few months, could be over a year) you'll get a bill from the IRS for what you owe, plus penalties and interest. This is NOT a good way to go. Then if you don't pay them, they'll find a way to get what you owe from youj.

You can file for an extension. Did you make enough money last year and do you owe any taxes? Research the Internet about your options. If you don't owe any taxes you are OK and if the government owes you a refund you are OK again. The IRS has a phone number or go on line with them and ask.

nothing will "happen",, no mention of it on 6:00 o'clock news or anything like that.
But when you do file, if you owe tax, you will be paying a penalty for not filing plus interest on past due amounts.
If you are due a refund, it is just dumb to not file. If you owe tax, it is even dumber not to file on time.
Even Jo is gonna file on time,, and Jo is the most lazy human alive today.
