I see many people saying that one of the reasons we need illegal aliens in the U.S. is to "do the jobs Americans won't do". My question is to the U.S. citizens and legal immigrants - if you really need a job, are you "above" any type of work? Or would you do anything necessary to support yourself and you family?

Sorry - I meant "your" family.

My family members got themselves a good education, therefore MY family won't have to do those jobs. Sadly, we have to pay for college ourselves rather than coming from another country and getting government grants and hand outs because we are from another country.
Other than my family, I understand not everybody can afford an education (I still can't afford college, but I go because I want a future) but there are good, hard working American citizens out there who will do those jobs the illegals say we won't do.

I am not above doing any job that would help support my family. It is harder for Americans to get help from the government though, than it is for the illegal immigrants. Therefore, we do not have that extra support to make up for the extremely low pay of these jobs. If the jobs included in what the Americans won't do include food, janitorial, truck driving and other service related jobs, then it is the illegal immigrants that is taking these jobs away from us.

My husband drives a truck and he was very angry when he found out that the Mexican trucks are now allowed to cross the border and not even get inspected. Are they taking jobs away from the American truck driving? In the future, they probably will because these American companies will figure out that they can have them do it for cheaper with less hassle.

A great deal of the jobs I have gone after require me to be bilingual. Why should have to cater to them? If they were citizens they would have to know our language.

The immigration issue is causing more problems because people are starting to angry enough to take matters in their own hands.

That question has been answered by the number of people who applied for every job that an illegal immigrant had to vacate due to the ICE raids. The question is, were American Citizens hired to fille those jobs? American Citizens have already proven they will do whatever it takes to support their families and many American Citizens actually enjoy working in fields. Some of us are farmers by choice and you can't be a farmer if you don't enjoy working in the fields. Many of us work three or four jobs -- 18 to 20 hours per day just to support our families. We don't qualify for any kind of aide whatsoever and so we have to depend upon each other to help each other survive. We obey the laws but illegal immigrants and companies that hire, harbor and help them get the rewards.

The comment by the pro-illegals, and Pres. Bush, about taking jobs Americans won't do is a "boat load of crap!" That's just another excuse to say we need them.

We don't need them. May 1, 2006 proved that when they protested and we trying to cripple us when they didn't work, go to school, etc.. Well we got along much better without them.

I wonder if they expect a different result this May 1st when they boycott again. I'm looking forward to it -- 75mph on the "5 North" during rush hour!

To say that there are jobs Americans won't do is a half-truth. There are jobs that Americans won't do for slave wages and those are the jobs criminal aliens are taking. And those are the jobs that employers offer in order to boost their profits.
And I have done everything necessary to help put food on the table.

There's no job anyone in my family has ever been "too good" to do. (Except be a prostitute, stripper, porn star and drug dealer.LOL)

In fact the jobs they say we won't do are the jobs we have done to live.

jcboyle.....once again.....the unemployment figures are only the count of people who qualified for unemployment and are still on it. Once your off, or if you quit or were dismissed or are new in the job search and a host of other things....you are not counted in those unemployment figures. There's a load of people out here looking for work. We don't need any more people.

since they have started.. the raids (hahahah) they have found that many Americans did indeed want the jobs.. but companies could get the labor cheaper... when the gov. raided the meat package plants.. and deported many illegals a lot of Americans did get hired..

i dont think the argument of american dont want the job sticks..
i think what they mean is... americans dont want the jobs at $2.00 per hour

i think we need to do what this site says

If I had children and lived in poverty, I would do any type of job to support my family. Illegals are taking jobs because they work for little money and do not complain.

Most of my family does the jobs Americans wont do,construction, cleaning, truck drivers, and nursing home care, and everyday illegals are trying to take these jobs for less pay because they are minority and can work for less because they get government help.

Last month's unemployment rate was 4.6%. That's considered "full employment" by economists etc. Which jobs are illegal immigrants taking away from American citizens?
