If you're into nature, try the Skyline Drive / Shenandoah area:

Alexandria, just outside of Washington DC, is nice and the Metro makes it really easy to get into the city. You can spend days exploring monuments and museums, and visiting the monuments at night can be very romantic. Plus Old City Alexandria is really nice - tons of shops and restaurants clustered in one area on the waterfront. You can also tour Mount Vernon, or Woodlawn Plantation, a 1799 Georgian mansion and museum.
We've done several wineries in Virginia, and they're also really cool. You can get more information on these sites and plan out a route that suits you:

The Charlottesville area is also very nice and there are a few pretty B&Bs in the area:

This site has a TON of ideas for getaways

Oh there are so many gorgeous places here, it really depends on your budget. We have many many B&B's, beaches, public and private, and mountain getaways. Another popular thing here in our state is our Wineries, if you are into wine, there are many vineyards that have some of the prettiest B&B type suites. Just do a search of us, see what gets your interest. Best of Luck.

Go to Williamsburg! There is lots to do. You can visit Colonial Williamsburgh, or go to Busch Gardens, or travel to Kings Dominion if you like theme parks.
