Depends where it is, and on a few other factors (time, distance travelled, amount of order, etc.) A regular pizza, about $3. . . .the place I always order from, I usually give him $5. They know me, and always get my order correct, are polite, and come quickly. I like to win people over with niceness.

10 percent of bill minus sales tax, $2 minimum

He's paid a lot less than you think he is.
Most places pay pizza drivers at, and sometimes below, minimum wage! Why? They consider them the same as waitresses, and can get away with it. Pizza drivers are expected to make up the difference with their tips - which they have to report at checkout at the end of the day, and pay taxes on.
And don't forget, delivery drivers get robbed every day.
Pizza drivers face this danger every day, and in locations you'd think would be the safest place in the world, (in th case of my friend, 200 yards from the front door of the shop).
Despite all this, you're going to give that driver only a dollar or less?
Now don't get me wrong; if the driver has a bad attitude or gives you lousy service, by all means don't tip. But at the bare minimum he deserves 10 percent.

But that's only my opinion.

I don't do 15% because they're already been paid for their run (usually $1.50 plus an hourly wage that is a lot more than a server). It's usually about 10% I'd say. I guess that makes me cheap, but I've delivered pizza and waited tables...and delivering pizza is a great job. You spend the whole day in your car making $6/hr plus runs and tips. At any rate, I don't think they can really give good or bad service like a server can and it's ridiculous that you have to tip them in the first place. Pardon my rant...

I delivered pizza at four different places in high school and my smallest houry wage was $5.50/hr. Plus a couple bucks a run, and tips...do we really think pizza delivery guys should get paid as much as the guy who owns the store? Not only that, but a tip is supposed to be a reward for service done well. It isn't that hard to put a pizza on your passenger seat, drive, walk to the door, and say "hi, your total is...".

Eddie, that's my take: Postal service: I accept as true with you that they are properly-paid federal workers (a minimum of interior the U. S.); i understand some might supply you some extra direct mail coupons in the event that they understand you, so a cutting-edge card could be effective in case you sense like it, or capture them as they pass purchase and supply them a warm drink. UPS: additionally proper paid for their artwork; i don't understand in the event that they are in a position to settle for preparation, yet i think of "thank you" is better than adequate rubbish/trash guy: first, you are able to might desire to capture them whilst they do p.c.. up, and that they could truly be appreciative, yet i do no longer think of they anticipate it Paper service: i used to be one, and that i consistently enjoyed a tip, even if it wasn't mandatory. some human beings could tip to make valuable the paper replace into located in a definite place. There are not as many walking routes at present, so the "service" may be a tension-by skill of "tosser" now. good subject count of debate.

Our Safeway doesn't allow tipping drivers. The delivery charge is already built in and they get a cut of it. So at least this Safeway has a no-tip policy, if they find out the driver accepted a tip they could get fired.
