Don't touch them at all Mom and Dad know what to do! If you touch them, the parents might reject the babies and then they would die. Good luck and congrats :))

when a chick is in an egg, the membrane inside is attached to the shell, this membrane is covered in blood vessels and attached to the chick via the umbilical chord. if you try and take the shell off while the chick is still hatching you could rupture a blood vessel and the chick could bleed to death. let them get on with it their own way.

Most parent birds keep the nest neat. They'll toss out the egg fragments.

the parent bird will throw them out of the nest when she cleans it and then you can remove it from the bottom of the cage . its not Wise to start moving things in the nest or she may reject the chicks because of your scent.,

do not touch,birds sometimes eat the shells as they are nourishing if not they will throw them out
