Yes and no.
Have you ever seen the movie A Nun's Story? God must take precedence in our lives (for those of us who are Christian). God knows I am angry this week over racist stuff and am not perfect. But He should be first....
Jesus said, the poor will be with us always...but...God certainly will accuse human kind (in my opinion) for how we treated each other.
The first commandment is "...thou shalt have no other gods before Me..." But the commandments tell us not to kill, steal, be jealous, and fornicate with EACH OTHER.
What I am trying to say is that God wants us to take care of each other...but HE is first. The two shouldn't be in conflict, unless say, you have a choice between paying tithes or feeding someone hungry.
What bothers me is that people think they can worship God and not care for people in need. When I lived in Israel, I told many of people, even friends, both Palestinian and Israeli, that God will probably care more that you are fighting and killing each other than He will ask "who protected my religious sites and buildings the best?"
Mostly the two should go hand in hand. You worship GOD and HELP people.

part of worshiping God is helping others who are in need- and treating people like they would like to be treated. Worship is not just a sunday morning activity- it should be every day. We,who claim to believe in Jesus need to live our lives as a sacrificial act of worship to Him - because if we only go to church on sundays and raise our hands to God, He will not be pleased. When we do not show the love of Jesus to those around us, we are not worshiping. Worship should be a life style not just words song or spoken at church.

Not for me it isn't. Helping people in need and loving each other is what God is all about. To me, doing those things is a kind of worship. You are doing God's work, so to speak. Hope this helps. Blessings, Diana

Why do you have to pick one?
True Christians worship God by helping others.

When you worship God, you follow his commands. And the greatest commands are to love God and to love neighbor. So they go hand in hand. But you can't expect helping others to come before the worship of God.

Part of worshipping God is being good to others and giving in charity. So, by helping others we help ourselves. After all, we are only giving from what God has provided for us... be it food, money, or strength.

God tells you to help those in need. So, in helping those in need, you are actually worshiping God.

Helping people is a form of worshiping God.

No, I don't think so. I am sure God sees it more important to help others and do his work, rather than worshipping and praying. Actions do speak louder than words.

Worshiping God should make you want to help others in need. Because as you partake in worship, you want to become more and more like Jesus.
