The recipes I have found start off by using canned beans. That is NOT what I want. I want to use the dry beans that come in a bag at the grocery store.

Thanks!

Here's a great recipe:

Boston Baked Beans

INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. dried pinto or navy beans
½ lb. bacon (about 12 slices)
1 large onion, finely diced
3 tablespoons molasses
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon dry mustard
½ cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons ground black pepper
1 ½ tablespoons minced garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder

PREPARATION:
Place dried beans in a large bowl and add enough water to cover by 2-3 inches (about 8 cups). Let the beans soak overnight.
Drain and rinse the beans. Simmer beans in 8 cups of water and 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar until tender, about 1 to 2 hours.
Drain and set aside, reserving 2 cups of the cooking liquid.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Using a large, heavy pot or Dutch oven, cook the bacon until crisp, 7 or 8 minutes. Add the beans and all other remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Add some of the cooking liquid if the mixture is too thick.
Transfer pot to oven. Bake uncovered for 2-3 hours (or to desired thickness) until the beans are tender, stirring occasionally.

Makes 6-8 servings.

Mexican style beans ....many uses. 1lb of Pinto Beans rinse them off you don`t have to soak them.put them in a pot of salted water about 3 pints to start.chop a medium onion, chop about half a cup of cilantro add this to the pot.I bash up about 4 cloves of garlic and put that in as well.In a frying pan fry chopped up beacon about half a pack till it`s not too done and add this bacon and grease as well and this is a basic recipe, taste the beans till they get really soft.this is also the recipe to start Chili Con Carne, just adding ground beef and some green peppers and some tomato sauce and other spices, when the beans are done and you feel like a change you can re-fry them for a side dish with breakfast,in a little beacon put 2 cups of the cooked beans and the juice into a hot frying pan and mash them like potato`s till they thicken nicely.Enjoy!!!!!

The best suggestion is just to rehydrate your beans, so you can make any recipe you already have. Simply bring your beans up to a boil, and then let them soak for an hour in the same pot, or let them soak in cool water overnight.

Cook the dried beans w/plenty of salt. Add bbq sauce, bacon, onions, green peppers, and brown sugar (or honey) and bake at 350 for about 1hr.
