yes it is. They both are fast but the F/A 18 Hornet is better designed for ground and arieal attacks. It can destroy ground targets miles away. They use the Hornet though for mostly aerial attacks. Now they use the Stealth fighter and the Hornet. The F-16 is a good aircraft but the Hornet is better designed.

I don't know all of the specific details of the two planes, however the abbreviation F/A signifies that it is a multi-role designed fighter/ attacker, whereas I know the F-16 was designed originally as a small, light weight, flexible fighter jet that was made specifically for air to air combat and later refitted to conduct air to ground combat, therefore I would choose the Hornet over the fighting falcon as the plane to attack ground forces. Not to mention the Hornets primary mission is close air support for U.S. Marines, that requires attacking ground targets.

That relies upon on which F-sixteen version you're talking approximately. to characteristic to what Steven published: The F-16A/B via Block 15 on the whole have been purely good for turning in dumb (unguided) bombs and early variations of the AGM-sixty 5 Maverick missile in daylight hours/sparkling climate. The Paveway I laser-guided bomb might desire to be employed utilising (IIRC) the Pave Penny daylight hours laser designator yet this transformation into truly uncommon in service if it replace into used in any respect. that's no longer till the F-16C/D Block forty/forty two which you get an afternoon/evening/all-climate and PGM ability during the employment of the LANTIRN laser focused on and navigation pods. LANTIRN allowed aims to be obtained and engaged with laser-guided bombs and missiles in any climate day or evening with a extreme degree of accuracy. Later the JDAM sequence of GPS guided have been further. The F-16C/D Block 50/fifty two does not use LANTIRN so is limited to JDAM and particular AGM-sixty 5 fashions however the main air-to-floor function for this sequence is air-protection suppression with jammer pods and the wear and tear missile. All F-sixteen's share the comparable needed features of a mid-fixed wing with heavily-spaced extreme-skill shops pylons that are basic to service and can carry a great variety of shops. staying power is sweet and the low-workload cockpit facilitates pilots to pay interest on their job.

They're roughly equal. At first glance it looks like you can hang more ordnance on an F/A-18E but whether you'd ever have a mission where you'd use that capability is another thing.
