i can understand ur problem well..In fact i am 15 yrs old and i have been battling excema since i was born.I had red, itchy patches all over my body when i was born. The doctors told me to get homeopathy treatment as allopathy might cure exczema but give me asthma! i started homeopathy treatment and it worked. Now i have redness only in the corners of my lips.Sometimes, even liquid oozes out.I am sorry but exczema is a lifetime disease.Different people have it in diff parts of the body.I wud strongly suggest u not to use vaseline as it makes the pores clogged and prevents air circulation.Don't use much soap too.I want you to check out this link too---http://www.skincarephysicians.com/eczemanet/whatis.html
I hope it helps.....All the best!!

My daughter was born with a severe case of excema. It started on her head. We thought it was just cradle cap, but when it went down her neck and to her face we found out that wasn't normal. So, anyway. Excema is just a case of really bad dry skin. We were given a perscription medication for it, and we only use it when it starts to bleed. But, a cheap easy way is Aquaphor. It's really gooey. Like grease almost. But it works really good. We put it on her once a day or every other day. It doesn't take alot. If his isn't too severe, I'm sure you could just buy any of the over the counter lotions for Extra Dry Skin or Dry-Cracked Skin and it will do just as well. With some, you might want to put it on as soon as he gets out of the bath. The skin is softer and the pores are already open to recieve the lotions. Don't get anything that has perfumes in it. It will irritate the skin and give him a slight burning or tingling sensation.

the only way to know for sure if it's excema is to do a scraping and check it under a microscope. my son had it around the same age as yours but the doc gave him some topical ointment to clear it. i tried vaseline but it never worked for him. everyone is different though. give it a try. excema can be very painful at it's worst. it can also take many forms. check a web site for more details. many have pics that you can compare to your sons patches and they'll have more info.
