No...you can not imagine how bad that age was....we are lucky to live in democratic society.....by the way..this question has nothing to do with Religion and spirituality.

George Bush, Osama Bin Laden, Nasrallah, Tony Blair and the other world terrorists are cowards. They are all concerned about personal interests and not the peoples interest. The current conflict in Iraq is about securing more oil fields for daddy and his business partners and the American corporations having secure future markets to sell their products. Democracy= Rule by the people. Even if the people want to wrap towels around their head and bodies, live without modern amenities and shun American entertainment. A terrorist who straps a bomb to himself and blows up a bar is just as guilty as the guy flying and M-16 that costs 10 million to build dropping a bomb on many homes. Both are killers and are terrorizing. Getting back to the article, So maybe the person strapping the bomb on them is today's leader?

Can't you see? Most of them are really just cowards. But they will try and make people see them as brave and say things like, ( I would kill myself before I would ever let the enemy capture me.) but use others to do their things for them. they will put anyone Else's life on the line. to do their work. with out any care at all. because if they fail, there is the old saying, (there's no skin off my teeth.)
And they just send another one. but if it ever comes down to them, having to do the job, they will be the first to run and hide. in a hole in the Gounod if it has to be. but they will hide, in fear. for their life. they will be the first to surrender to all terms. and then ask for forgiveness.
but all threw History you can see them.. They are just called Cowards.
But today, there are some that are presidents, because they know what they are doing, and make great Leaders. you cannot call all of them cowards, because they are not, they are just great leaders and we need them to guide and help win, if there is a war. and they would actually put their life on the line if they had too, along side the people.
So you cannot judge all for the actions of a few. So it is best to just guess, whether they are really leaders or not. and find out later how they reacted. to a situation.

Do you want leaders that can actually improve society as a whole or just leaders that can kill people on a battlefield. Dwight D Eisenhower couldn't even stand due to polio but was able to lead America through WW2, probably the grandest war ever.

Since this is a Religion & Sprituality section and the majority are Christianity, I must be assuming that you are referring to the Pope. There hasn't be a crusade for hundred of years. Who knows you might see him in the front line when the time comes.

It changed, I believe, because Kings became more of a figure head than a leader. Oh, but I agree with you. Long gone are the days of honor. Our leaders now send minions out to do their killing, sitting safely at home while thousands die in their names. A real leader would join them, would show them that even he supports his own cause.

No, but wouldn't it be great if the so-called leaders themselves did the actual battle? Bush VS Bin Laden in a no holds barred fight to the death...

Yes, if they start the war, they should have to fight in the war.
I think it changed due to laziness... looking at our leaders now, I'd have to say most of them couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
*Gasp* What if they got killed? What would happen to all their money???? =)

It ended with technology. once it became easy to lead from the rear and especially once it became easy to take the leader out if he rode up front.
