My husband got out of the army last month after the stop loss was lifted. He missed a call yesterday from a staff sergeant w/ the National Guard and the message just stated that he had important information for him and asked him to return the call. My husband is not the pessimistic/ negative type but he is convinced they are calling him to call him back to active duty. I tried to tell him to return the call and it's probably nothing more than someone trying to recruit him (again) to the National Guard?
What do you think?

The National Guard is funded by the state and cannot call former active duty army personnel back to duty. You are receiving a call from a National Guard recruiter.

The Guard is always trying to get recently seperated soldiers to join. Leaving a vague message like that helps insure that he will call back. If he were getting called back to active duty, they'd hound him a lot more than just a phone call. I wouldn't worry about it.

They called me when I ETS'd too. That is just what they do. Have him return the call and tell them that he is not interested. I am hoping he has done 8 years or more? If not, he still has obligations. Return the call and find out what they want.

Regrettably, I think your husband and you should make sure you have good provision for his imminent demise. They need every single warm body they can force back into service.
The military is lowering the bar for criminals, drug addicts, morons, and the mentally ill just to get more warm bodies. They're calling up men in their forties and fifties. They're calling back SEVERELY WOUNDED soldiers to COMBAT.
So why would you think this is just a harmless recruiting call?
You and your husband have my sympathy. You may not have any recourse, and that's a shame.

If nothing else, they are probably trying to convince him to re-up for a stint with the National Guard.

Same thing happened to my brother after he came back from Iraq. The NG was trying to have him come back. My brother said "No, thanks".
By the way, my brother had done 6-7 years when this happened (last year).
