** Which of the ten commandments is the most irrelevant? **

Which one?

Deuteronomy 5:
or
Exodus 20:

For me this is the mostly ignored / irrelevant one

The Bible Deuteronomy 5: 13 - 15
Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy, as the Lord your
God commanded you.For six days you shall labour and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, or your son or your daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or your donkey, or any of your livestock, or the resident alien in your towns, so that your male and female slave may rest as well as you. Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.

vs

The Bible Exodus 20: 8 - 11
Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave,
your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.

Saturday is the Sabbath day , however only the Jehovah witnessess rightly observe that. The main difference between the two versions is that one says:

"Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a
mighty hand and an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day."

Christians don't qualify for that one. They were never slaves in Egypt. So, the other one in Exodus was changed / created.

Notice how both versions leave that male slave, female slave stuff unmolested.

Have a pleasant day.

Start with #1. I'm an Amerindian and so my ancestors were never enslaved by the Egyptians. We had other problems.

And "no other gods"--come on, mankind has always had lots of gods.

And certainly a "jealous god" is by definition an imperfect god.

Cursing helps one to blow off steam. At times it can be appropriate.

But the most irrelevant may be not working on the sabbath. If not for that emergency room doctor and other medical staff working on the sabbath I wouldn't be here to write this.

Not all parents are deserving of honor.

As far as no murder--would the world have been better off if we were all pacifists in the face of Hitler's aggression?

Lying is sometimes good. There are times where blunt frankness is hostile and harmful.

So all in all, what you have there is a real mess of a moral guidance.

They're all relevant if you want better things to happen in your life. The commandments are all about a way of life. If you don't want to go to jail or be hurt by another persons actions you need to take all the commandments seriously

The two that are the same as the two other ones. Adultery/coveting your neighbour's wife and stealing/coveting your neighbours goods. I'm not sure of the numbers

"Thou shalt not kill."

HAH! Like hell I shan't!

[Supplementary note to "Cyn": That is the attitude that has made christianity what it is today.... as ALL christianity is idolatry. Jesus was not divine: just a bloody good example of how a proper human being should be... and christians went and messed that up.]

I would say it's the one about idol worship, but since a true idol is anythin that replaces God in your life, keeping you from Him, that's not the case. All commands are relevant
