If you coveted an ox, I'd make you have romantic relations with said ox.

And so we need more info. Was this ox your neighbors wife?
If not, was this ox a male or female? Makes a difference. The punishment will be that you have to pay support for any offspring from this transgression. And also pay your neighbor a "mating" fee.
You show this as your "only crime" but that can not be believed at this point so further investigation may reveal other "coveting" and those will be treated as separate crimes and therefore, separate punishment maybe imposed.
You will, though, be visited by a religious mentor to see if you can be cured or not. It may take an exorcism, which, can sometimes can be fatal, we are sorry about that in advance.

Well first of all I just gotta say- you're taking that verse outta context ;) and secondly I think that coveting your neighbor's ox doesn't deserve punishment.

To me honestly it depends on what the crime was. If someone molested a child, I think they should be put to death. If you molested them they might enjoy it. ( I know it sounds sick but there are people out there that prolly would). I believe if you are proven without a doubt that you killed someone you should be put to death ASAP not sit in a jail cell and use tax payers money. You should not get your last meal or visit with your family or preacher. Did the person they kill get that chance? I am sure they did not. Some punishments should fit the crime I suppose but not all. If you stole, or slept with someone else husband/wife, you should go to jail have to pay a penalty or something like that. As for people sitting in jail, either give them the right sentence or let them go, I am tired of paying for them to sit there and watch tv or whatever they do in jail. kellym

No actual punishment for ox/*** coveting. Covet away. If you steal the ox, then you've got a problem.

technically, "coveting" isn't a crime; it's a sin. Therefore, no punishment in this world. You may run into trouble in the after-life though. Who knows what will happen there.

The punishment should be that the ox gets a good look at your rear.

technically all sin is the same its sin. so if you want your neighbors ox and make plans to take it it would technically be the same as if you have commited adultry. all the same so if you dont have a friend in the next life you will be judged for all.

An eternity in a lake of fire. Be thankful you didn't actually *do* the ox.

Hebrews 13:5 puts it well: Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
