And that is continued to be untill the Bible was written. And even then it was very popular in many circles. And I'm not talking about gay men....I'm talking of straight men. It was a common practice to stage philosophical debates, drink, and have sex...many times by straight men...simple as a way of release....it was believed that this release would bring enlightenment as well. This was a common practice until the Bible was written. Could it be some powerful men in charge of including versus/books into the bible simple didn't like the practice and included it in to stop this.
This was never a problem until it shows up in the bible.
If there is a God...would he really look upon a loving relationship between two people as wrong?? Or is it simply man who can not accept and labeled it wrong???

Although some might disagree, I think homosexuality is still popular today. I don't think Jesus was gay, but I have heard he might have been bi-sexual. Regardless of his sexual preferences, Jesus had a good message. Just like with Elton John, I personally don't mind what some do behind closed doors or in the the garden of Gethsemane.

Please remember, the bible was interpreted, bought and written for an eccentric king (King James) with some major sexual hangups among other anti-social and anti-church philosophies.

Did you know theft and murder were also common when Jesus was alive? Did that make it right, or was it still wrong?

Come on, you're talking about the Greeks, they had some pretty twisted stuff going on. Mentors used to have sexual relations with their wards. Does that mean that NAMBLA (North American Man-Boy Love Association) is a legitimate organization because they used to do it back then? Of course not. Did God not also condemn men lying with other men in the Mosaic Law?

Try a little harder please...

A man isn't straight if he is having sexual relations with another man, point blank. The reason the bible says it is wrong was because for one, they pressed themselves on God's angels. If you are fine being a fudge-packer than that's you. Don't try to make someone else do it. Second of all, men started to thing that they were the supreme sex. That they only needed women to reproduce. When God made Adam, he created Eve to be by his side to share not only his bed, but his life. To have an important role. He didn't make Steve on the side to screw himself into an enlightened phase. If you chose to be with the same sex, than that is on you. I can not judge you, only God can. But keep in mind, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for trying to force their ideas on others.

Being common or popular does not make something right. During the Roman era it was also "popular" and accepted that men have sex with boys in order to "teach" them in the ways of sex. What of that?

Two people "loving each other" is wonderful. But two men or two women can love each other with out committing sexual perversion.

We know that the Bible is the Word of God. The Words of God cannot be wrong...ever. Homosexuality is a sin...no matter how you try to angle it or dress it up...it's still ugly it's still sin. We all sin...we are all called away from our sin, from our human carnal desires, to follow Christ.

Just for the record...a "loving" homosexual relationship is rare. Statistically, they have more partners then heterosexuals. They get together for sex...not love. They use sex...meeting in bathrooms for quickies is hardly love.

Trying to make homosexuality okay, based on being popular or being something they can't help...is just wrong. There are things society makes okay...such as pornography...but it's still a sin and as Christians we should avoid it and still work to rid the world of it. Abortion is sin...but accepted...our very nature is to sin. All of us. Jesus says he calls us away from our sin...towards a loving relationship with God.

Yes it was also in the times of Sodom and Gomorrah.

If this world of loose conduct (2 Corinthians 4:4) wants to go on and treat homosexuality as normal and healthy then go ahead but don't try and water down what our Creator God or Jesus views about it.
He has demonstrated his abhorance to active homosexuality in several ways.

I believe homosexuality has been around since the human race. Kings and Queens would have sex with their servants.

I believe there is a God who is loving and forgiving. I beleive he makes us who we are.

Jesus loves the little children ALL the children in the world...

We are all children in Gods eyes.

This is not about the Bible being written. It is about God's requirements for his human creation.
Jehovah God created man and woman and brought them together and told them to multiply and fill the earth with offspring.
This was and still is God's plan for mankind.
Homosexuality is abhored by God.It is against nature and is founded on lust and the giving in to wrongful desire.

Yes dear, it was a common pagan practice, we know this, are you stating for that reason it was and is okay. No it is not. There were tons of things to list that were practiced by pagans, hey are you a virgin... I need a sacrifice. Get real, and yes God looks down on a loving sexual relationship between to people of the same sex.

Have you not read the history of the ancient Romans and Greeks? Both societies would bribe under-aged boys with gifts and then mislead them to be raped. How could God condone this? And that's not all. Let's not forget how the ancient Romans and Greeks also were masochists, rapists, child molesters and committed bestiality (raped animals). These "enlightened" people were SICK!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you..but the fundies will pull out a dozen scriptures to throw at you...this is what they have been taught to say...they have no real conviction on the subject, but follow blindly what their religion dictates to them...in the meantime, they are turning good people away from God.

They will stand before God and answer for their misdirected, judgemental deeds one day.
