excellent. i know this wasn't what you were getting at, but it could expand the way people have of thinking about god. we in the west seem to be stuck into certain assumptions about what a god should be, for example the idea that a god has to be immortal...
a god could essentially be just a being a little bit more powerful than we humans. in the jewish scriptures (what is commonly but mistakenly called the 'old testament', god very frequently appears and speaks to people at the beginning, but about halfway through god disappears and intermediaries start taking a bigger role - 'the angel of the LORD', for example...now, an interesting side question could be, 'is the angel of the LORD' and 'the house of the LORD' the LORD?
anyway, suppose there was a god and he was a being of this nature. he could either have died (and therefore lack the power of immortality), or he could have left (because the gods of the nations conquering the jews were more powerful, perhaps). now, there are parts of the universe that we haven't explored yet, so, perhaps, if we look everywhere we may just find the corner of the universe that god has been hiding in all this time. maybe he gave up on our world as a mistake or a prototype, and has now made other worlds and peoples, learning from the mistakes he made with us???
anyway, all speculation, because i don't actually believe in gods. but, interesting to contemplete. vale to you

Highly risky! All those you scatter around the Universe, may die after some time due to lack of life-supporting resources, without finding God. Those who don't see God in everyday life will, in any case, NOT see God any where else in the Universe!

I disagree. This is not necessary. The argument that God is omnipresent is a logical one based on the definition of God. If you placed any great number of people in space, evenly positioned like a giant grid, you would still get people who argue that there were places between them where there was no God. And they might be right. It may be that God requires conscious beings, or at least physical matter, to "carry" him. In that case, vacuum would not only be without matter, but without God.
Fact is, we know very little about the nature of God, including whether he/she/it is singular or plural. I prefer plural, myself.

Why don't you just read the scriptures?
God is not omnipresent, his spirit is! God himself lives in a particular location!
To see the scriptures, about half way down on this page the scriptural evidence is quoted:

Dune realized? I want to go out and explore, let me go! I don't particularly agree, but if it gets people off the planet, sure.
