An infidel is a person who has no belief in God, it should be made quite clear that all Muslims must accept people of the book (Quran) as their brothers.
The Quran includes teachings from the Torah and the Bible and I quote from the Holy Quran.
Surah (AL BAQARAH)
[2:62] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a righteous life, will receive their recompense from their Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
I hope that Muslims everywhere take this to heart, and I hope that all you believers out there understand that any true Muslim has nothing against you, and if they do they will be severely punished by God for it.

I realise that Catholics and Christians are basically the same thing, but I didn't want to upset them by leaving them out!

"Quote" from (Al Baqarah)
[2:6] As for those who disbelieve, it is the same for them; whether you warn them, or not warn them, they cannot believe.
[2:7] GOD seals their minds and their hearing, and their eyes are veiled. They have incurred severe retribution.

You are correct,, but as for the last point, that is incorrect.
Sorry if I'm being harsh, but if a person Beleives in God, but rejects the Prophet Muhammad, they a e a non-Muslim (kafir) more like, because they deny the Prophet. A kaafir is not someone who denies just God. Kaafir is a Islaamic term used for someone who denies Islaam, they deny the Prophet and God and the teachings of Islaam. They oppose it.
You can not be a Muslim if you deny the Prophet, even if you beleive in God. A lot of people think 'infidel' in the Qur'aan is refered to all non-Muslims, wrong, it's referred to the people on the battle field. When people say that int he Qur'aan it says 'kill all infidels' it's referring to Jihad, while on the battle field.
Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, all 3 of them had the same message. The religion of all 3 of them are the same religion, but When Jesus was sent after Moses, more rulings came down, but the religion was still incomplete. When Muhammad was sent down, the religion was completed, with more ruling- more things that are allowed to do and forbidden. But after centuries, Christianity and Judaism changed, their books were corrupted with more information.
Say (O Muslims), "We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Yaqoob (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat (the twelve sons of Yaqoob (Jacob)), and that which has been given to Moosa (Moses) and Iesa (jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam)." [Surah al-Baqarah 2:136]
Only a bit of the Gospel of Moses and Jesus exists in the Bible, and the rest is stories and fables from Historians. Whereas Islaam, the Qur'aan has not been distorted, and has stayed the same. I don't mean to disrespect any religion, I just like to point out whats right and wrong- what the truth is.
That verse was referring to the Christians and Jews at the time of the Prophet because those were the true Christians and Jews, back then there weren't any false beliefs in their religion. Now, a lot of misconceptions and false beliefs have entered into Christianity which cannot be accepted by Islaam. But it still refers to the people of the true Christianity and Judaism. (anyone know what I mean? Because I have a feeling a lot of people might take my answer offensive, which is not my intention)
We Muslims respect the Prophets: Moses, Jesus, Abraham, Ismael, Isaa, Jacob and Muhammad. But why do you Christians find it hard to believe and respect the Prophet Muhammad?
I apologise if you take my answer as offensive. Also, I'm sorry if my point is not very clear. I tried my best.

It would be wrong if we started pointing fingers at Christians and Jews and saying that they are bound to end up in Hell (and calling them infidels etc). The Quran does not teach that at all; wherever the Christians and Jews are criticized, it is for the difference in belief where according to Islam they are wrong. Nowehere though, the whole nation of Jews or Christians is banished to hell. The verse you quoted is the second such example in the Quran and a similar verse is repeated later.
In Islam, beyond the essential beliefs, it is the quality of life that one leads that determines one's fate in the hereafter. To say that only Muslims would go to heaven is contradictory to the tenets of Islam.
Cheers and God bless.

Both Bible and Quran provide a standard for which man will be judged. If a person is striving to do right and live their life according to the word of God, that is my brother and sister, regardless of their faith expression. However, if evil is a person's constant doing, I will fight them in every way possible, no matter what their faith expression. A particular title doesn't make a person good or bad...it is their actions that we have to look at. In my neighborhood, their are Muslims who sell pork, cigarettes and beer in their stores. I speak out against it no matter who it is......

Ok that line got me confused-" I hope that all you believers out there understand that any true Muslim has nothing against you"
I dont know if you meant true christians or jews. But honestly speaking, God simply means Allah and not jesus or moses. And if your to believe in Allah you will follow Allah's last revelation- The Qur'an. Well thats all I can say. Inshallah may Allah guide you in teh straight path.

That word only goes for idol worshipers like Hindus, or could also go for Buddhist and such. * Muslims, Christian and Jews all believe in the same god * Muslims don't believe that Jesus was the son of god but believe that he was another prophet. * Muslims refer to Christians and Jews as the people of the book (talking about the Bible and Torah) * Muslims believe in the bible and Torah but know that The Quran was the final word of god and the complete book.

you are 80% correct.
You need to remember that only christians, jews & sabians who follow the exact words of thier messengers (David, Moses & Jesus) (PBUH) they will be accepted as people of the book, those that believe the books that have been altered to suite mens lifestyle & needs will not be considered people of the book.

As a Christian I refer to Muslims as Muslims not as "infidels", so I prefer that Muslims refer to me as a Christian.
And about "kafir":
if I believe in God, accept Jesus, but reject Mohammad, does that make me a ¼ "kafir"?
