Military does run with the big price tag, but squandering and unaccounted for funds is standard bureaucratic procedure. Couple that with limited success and you've got a "Win".
What about Bush's "No Child Left Behind" program in Education? Our Nation is now the lowest rated in education of any Industrialized Nation and has a higher percentage of high school drop than when the program started.
The list goes on and on.

Can you identify funds that were squandered or unaccounted for and present them as a percentage of the funds allocated for that purpose?
One of the oldest tricks in the book is to announce that 'millions' have been improperly spent but not say that this amount is 0.001% of the money allocated for that purpose.

The so called "war on terror" is just like the "war on drugs". It's a war that they know cannot be won, which is exactly what they want. War is profitable, and what better way to make money off of killing people than perpetual war! President Eisenhower warned us about this "Military Industrial Complex" before he left office & now we are seeing the terrible effects. Check out the link. It's scary.
