Nope, they can get you both ways. The radar picks up your speed, therefore doesnt need lines to measure you by.....

Probably not. Standard Gatso's give a double flash and incorporate the vehicle crossing the road markings in the picture to verify the reading. That's in case there is any doubt, they know the distance between the markings and can calculate the speed from the time taken to cover the distance. Either it was taking traffic going the other way or it just flashed for no reason (it has been known).

The same thing happened to me a few weeks back there were lines and the camera was on other side I know I was going over the limit - and it flashed - no ticket. My cousin told me he does it all the time when driving towards that camera.

i can tell u for sure that you havnt been caught. the camera is for cars on the other side of the road, though sometimes they flash for other cars like yours. the photos are always reviewed by someone before fines are issued so they will simply see that u are in the other lane and no fine will be issused. lucky this time

In america red light runner cameras use inferred light so you don't even see the light flash. For a speeding offence to happen don't you have to offend some one? You drivers need to rebel in the UK. Get the automatic tax collecting traffic cameras abolished. Studys they site for accident reduction are flawed. Write your MP get a deduction on income tax for those automated devices. Obscure your plates and wear masks in protest. Every one unite! I am ok with the red light cameras.

Wait to see if you get something in the mail. Who knows, it you did trigger it and it was working for opposing traffice, then it might of just taken a picture of the front of you car instead. I've never delt with these, but I think they only give fines and no points.

If its new style cameras then then can take a photo from the front in which case you may be buggered. If its the old ones don't worry about it. I've done it plenty of times and nothing comes back.

For some reason it sounds like you are in the UK.
In the UK they don't issue a ticket unless you are flashed from behind. It is considered a breach of privacy since you might have, for example, someone who shouldn't be in your car, sitting in the passenger seat. So the ticket only counts if they snap you from behind.
