I just finished watching a show about serial killers. During the show they mentioned that many serial killers have similar physical problems in the brain. There may be a natural cause for someone to become such a killer. If (just imagine) someday scientist found genes that made someone a murderer regardless of how they are raised and were able to locate serial killers before they were born, would that justify an abortion if the person knew their child would grow up to be a killer? (remember, this is hypothetical, so don't say it can't happen)

There is always a choice made to murder someone.Humans are not machines. For example, someone with these hypothetical genes would not commit murder if he was locked in a room.
Abortion is wrong.

Probably so, I also approve of abortion to save the mother, if having the child will kill her. I am Christian, I hate abortion in most cases, but I think it is a moral decision, not a government decision. I also believe if they made adoption available to the average family there would be a lot less kids without homes. I was considered an adopotion risk at one time because I had been divorced once. Been married to the second wife for 20 years now, the first is on her 7th marriage. But I was the risk?

No. Just as I would not favor killing Hitler before he became the head of German, or executing a drinker before he could get behind the wheel of a car and kills someone.

Until a person commits a "sin", they are not quilty. Just as there are people who have a genetic tenedency towards alcholism, but can control their drinking, or people who have a tenedency towards violence, but can control their temper, so a person with such a genentic tendency is not guaranteed to become a serial killer.

If such a test where possible, the person could be indentified, monitored, given help, etc. to assist them in overcoming that genetic tendency. But it would not be justified to abort them because they MIGHT develop such a desire.

And, since this question was directed on Christians, you have given us the right to inject Christian doctrine into our answer. Read Ephesians 6:19-21 "Now the works of the FLESH are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like."

According to the Bible, all these sins listed above come from the "flesh". They are part of a genetic tenedency passed from human to human due to the original sin committed by Adam. Would you recommend aborting any child who might have one or more of those tenedencies also? That would eliminate the entire human race, because we all have sinful desires from birth.

Rather than to abort people, the Bible answer is to get them "reborn". Through faith in Christ, a person's inner nature - from which their desire for any sin (including serial murders) comes is changed when they surrender themselves to the Lordship of Jesus. That desire is removed and new nature placed within. I can testify that such a change happened to me years ago when I made that committment to Christ. And I have seen hundreds experience the same.

If you argue that the cause is "physical", rather than "spiritual", then Christianity still is your solution. The Bible also promises physical healing of all diseases (and I would call that a "disease") as part of our covenant with God.

So the answer is not to abort someone because they MIGHT become a sinner, but rather to get them born again so that they are free of that sinful nature.

Hmmm, tough question. It could, but Scientists could also possibly create a medication to sedate the Gene. Or possibly, when the child is old enough, maybe put them in a Mental Hospitial.

I don't think it's the best route, but if there was no other way, than yeah, it might be Justifiable.

that would not make abortion ok. Why because murder is sin- so we would be no better than the serial killer- besides everyone is born in sin, and if given a chance of life, God can change anyones life and heart if they let him. God needs to be the judge of a person's life, not us.

No, it doesn't justify abortion, because it underestimates the power of God to change a life. Remember, the Apostle Paul was a murderer, but God touched his life.

How could you justify an abortion? Wouldn't that make you pretty much the same a "KILLER"?

People kill because they chose to. That's whats wrong with this world today, people want to try to justify their actions by saying they were born that way. They need to start taking responsibility for their actions and quit trying to excuse it.

no...each person deserves life because God gave them gifts he wants them to use to make the world a better place. If a family member of mine were murdered I'd only grow stronger in my faith because it is during the hard times that you get stronger.

Your leaving out the most important thing.

Man has the ability to adapt to choose to be retrained.

You can not murder a person because of His chemical makeup.
