Have you tried to apply for dayshift type jobs within your police service? (crime prevention, courts, forensics etc)..

If those aren't available you could look into teaching. Many retired officers here are teaching Law and Justice courses at community colleges in our city. Our ministry of the environment (environmental protection officer) and the fire marshall's office often hire police officers.

Try working for the court system as a magistrate. You could try working for the friend of the court (child support case worker) but that can take it's toll on you mentally dealing with all of the custody issues. Prison Guard, if your up to it. Try head of security with a business. I had a friend who retired from the force and went on to head of security for a mall, and his salary was in the 6 figures and it was typically a 9 to 5 M-F job.

Try crime scene investigation or forensics. Of course you must have a MS degree, but things like that might get you off the street. Another option might be to move to a smaller community or county. Also, you could teach at academy. If you truly want to get off the street, get your MS degree in Criminal Justice. There are schools that you can get your degree on-line. I am ...
