I am confused.He is a great lad! But I do not really understand why? He said he is shy. But how shy can you be...? What do you think....?

I just read your question & was thinking....say he was really shy thats why he didn't have sex in the first place.!. & now more years have gone by it must be even harder!!... because he's had no experience & others his age would have so it must be alot harder for him, the older he's getting the harder it is! thats what i reakon...
You say he says he's shy thats why???? so I take it he wants to lose his viginity!?? Or like the person on your first answer saying he might be gay...he might be...or confussed...(I'm getting confussed now! lol)if thats a sure No No! then what I would do if he really wanted to lose his viginity I'd get him a call girl! sorry but I would! on his birthday couple of drinks & stitch him up!! don't get him too drunk tho...unless you got a viagra backup plan! lol' but if he's happy being a virgin then thats cool *& back off ; )

Not over sure why. Maybe lack of opportunities. maybe he finds it difficult to relate to other people. Maybe he lacks confidence because he doesn't know that much about the intercourse act.
If you want to help, have a talk with him about virginity, cherry popping etc. If he responds, then he probably wants to have a sexual relationship (though not necessarily with you) but needs to know more. See if you can help his self-confidence by planting some thoughts in his mind, advising him on sexual matters, and maybe even moving him in the direction of some opportunities. On a lot of occasions, people like this need some practical help and confidence boosting.
You say he is a great lad, if that's the case he will probably have a good number of 'possibilities.'

Maybe he's never felt ready for a sexual relationship. Isn't he better to wait for someone he really cares about than just sleeping with any random person?

Shy could mean many things - a fear of intimacy, a fear of being hurt, abandoned, rejected or of not being loved by someone in return.
My guess is that he needs to deal with some issues in his past that he has not yet come to terms with in order to feel more comfortable with himself.

it is possible.
if you shy you are also less confident talking to grils. That makes very less chance to met or find a girl.
but believe once they find someone they will make the effort to keep their relationship as long as they live.
Becuase I am telling you from experience. I am not virgin but one of shy ones.

shy guys are devided into 2 main groups.
1- as shy they can not ask others for a relation.
2- as shy they can not refuse others for what they ask.
the bad point is, people in both groups can be change into other one!

give the guy a break, he probably hasnt had the chance yet and has not been in the company of many women or men who want to do it with him, or that he doesnt want to do it wit them
maybe he needs to go on a few dates and he might be ok then...?

well that is something very personal, he must find source of courage to proceed to "the next level".Listening other and they stories about sex is not good thing to do,because people's stories about sex are made of over 50% lies.
