If you're in a Boxing match, then keep close to him and fight on the inside, then use your shorter arms to good advantage by throwing hooks and uppercuts. If your in a martial arts match, then just use your legs and kick him, legs are longer and stronger than his arms no matter how long they may be. You usually move in either by waiting for him to throw a punch then weaving inside his reach or by faking a punch to draw a reaction from him so you can move in while he's adjusting to your attack. Footwork is important, try to learn the shuffle step and the lunging steps. The footwork used in fencing can be very effective in Boxing or martial arts.

I say you fight someone with longer arms by fighting inside. You may get hit first but you do have a defense. You can't worry about getting hit first. Concentrate on defense and getting inside.

That's one problem Samuel Peters encountered while fighting Vladimir Klitchko. Only thing his corner told him to do was to "get inside," but they never told him how. Bob and weave in the key. Just take a page out of Tyson's or Frasier's book. Good footwork is essential too.

Use some lateral movements come in at different angles, bob and weave, dont be too predictable if he misses with his long range punch be ready to come in and throw your combinations,be alert with the possibilty of throwing a counterpunch most likely and overhand punch against the long jab

close compact punches. the "Dempsey Roll" is a great move to perform on bigger/longer boxers since you need to stay real close and pack hard punches, it uses all your body weight and works great especially for someone small like my size(5 foot 8, 170lbs). the only boxer i've seen use it with perfection is Tyson so go on youtube and watch him. btw his peek-a-boo technique is fused pefectly with Jack Dempseys "Dempsey Roll"

Wikipedia dempsey roll so you can get an idea what i looks like.

Work on your speed to move in quickly. Running at high speeds will help. Practice on the bag short range punches to strengthen.

Bob and weave as you move forward to get inside. You might have to take a shot to get inside, but nothing solid. Once inside go to work on him.

come close to him because if you are far his arm will st reach which means more power if it is not fully st reach it means it has less power so be close to him and fight
