You did the right thing - after all, why should the other guests be deprived of this special treat because of the selfish attitude of the manager. Many of them will have been foreign tourists who have paid good money to experience the sights and sounds of Britain in all its glory. I hope you'll also complete their education by explaining the finer points of your sporran and dirk, and by showing them what a proud scotsman wears under his kilt.

I'm sure people were sleeping,
I was a front desk clerk for 6 years.
We usually sent out security to problem guest.
Expect that anywheres that you travel.
It has nothing to do with you being scotish, but at 3 am
bagpipes are loud and disturb sleeping people.

Totally unreasonable.
There is nothing more soothing than the skirl of the bagpipes late into the night...
PS - can't decide what's funnier - your chat or all the doofi that have treated this as a serious question.

I'm very suprised at your lenient attitude, my mate Bobby from Glasgow would have grabbed him by the lapels and stuck the Glasgow kiss right on his nose -- actually Bobby would also have parked his bagpipes where the sun don't shine.

I think it's obviously unreasonable. Maybe he/she either has a crush on you, or would just like to make a pass on you. Maybe he/she has other reasons why he/she bang at your door at 3am.

If you were disturbing the other guests with you're bag pipes, then YES it is reasonable. Other people are trying to sleep.
And if you keep people awake that doesn't reflect good on the hotel and they can loose customers.
