In terms of what sports have the biggest homers, NASCAR is worst when it comes to its fans acting as such.

You see bad homers in other sports, but when it comes to NASCAR, it seems if you even come close to thinking about critiquing a driver, it seems as such that you get blasted by every such fan. If your talking about the fan of a B-list driver, those fans arent as bad, but it seems as if your talking about a past or current A-list driver, especially Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt (Sr. or Jr.), Jimmie Johnson, etc., it seems as such where they just get on you.

Would you agree with me that NASCAR has some of your worst homers among fans?

A "homer" used in the proper context, is a broadcast professional who does not hide where his loyalty resides.

If UNC basketball is broadcast on CBS, the CBS commentators are supposed to be neutral, while the UNC radio-broadcast team are expected to be "homers".

A regular person who proudly displays where his loyalty resides is called a "fan". As a fan you are entitled to have favorites and non-favorites.

And world-wide the worst fans are soccer fans. Fights, riots and worse, over a children's game.

Nascar fans when it comes to certain drivers are horrible and cant take a little criticism. Thats the truth, if you mention Dale Sr. as being a dirty driver then everyone wants to fight(he was the dirtiest driver to ever drive), you call out Gordon for whatever he is and you get the same thing. The only place I have witnessed this beyond the realm of racing is in Pittsburgh when talking about the Steelers, bad mouth them and your in for an earfull or a mouthfull of knuckles, of course I believe Nascar fans to be a lot smarter than fans of the Steelers.

No. NASCAR has some of the worst "homers" (as you so eloquently put it) when it comes to people that want to bash a great sport. Yes, it's a sport!

Fans of any sport are loyal to their team and favorite players. Some are more loyal than others. Check out a football game on tv some time. Look at all the guys that are half naked, painted in their teams colors, and standing in almost freezing weather. One of NASCAR's "homers" would probably say "hey, fool, put on a t-shirt!"

Personally, I wish all the "homers" like you would keep from asking NASCAR questions and entering NASCAR chat rooms. It's almost like you have no other way of seeking enjoyment other than bashing on our sport, or us.

whats a homer? If homer means most obnoxious or loud, then i dont think they are anymore so than any other sport. If you go to a pro football game, youre gonna see the drunk, or loud obscene fans there with the flamboyant get-ups. I think many people think nascar fans are obnoxious because they talk so much trash about other drivers, this a unique part of the sport bc the rivalries that exist are between individals, not teams. ie dale jr. fans generally hate gordon and his fans, similarly Ohio State football fans passionately hate michigan and their fans.
I think there is a stronger feeling of connection, or loyalty from a fan to one single driver than there is to say a whole team

I don't know what a "homer" is, but I will guess by using context clues.
I think race fans are the best out of all fans. They are by far the most passionate, which makes them "real" fans. Yes, debates can get heated, but it is because everyone is so passionate about it.
The only race fans I do NOT like are those who find it necessary to throw things onto the track when a driver they do not care for wins. That is just feeding the white-trash, hillbilly stereotype that gives us all a bad name.

I think the worst homers or nuts fans are european soccer fans with the brawls they have people getting killed and put in hospital.
certainly get some bad ones in nascar or any other sport but to me the worst euro soccer fans, they should give those boys an evaluation on the mind before they let them in search them for weapons.

Yes, I would agree. NASCAR fans need to shut up and watch more of the action, instead of bashing the driver that won, or beat their driver. It's ridiculous, But I feel this will never change.

If NASCAR (in your opinion) is bad, buy a ticket to England and go to a soccer (football in thier terms) match; NASCAR fans are like a Baptist sunday school picnic in comparison.
