on the Religion and Spirituallity site than Christians. That makes about as much sense as someone posting a question/answer about pets on the science and mathematics site. Why enter a site you don't believe in anyway? Yeah, yeah, I know about freedom of expression etc. but that doesn't answer the "why" of things. Do you want to convert Christians to your unbelief? You don't give $$, spend time, offer aid, associate with pastors, so- it costs you nothing. Christians know that Jesus did honorable things and died to save people from eternal damnation and afford eternal wonder in Heaven. Why should such Christian belief bother you? About all I see you do is cut down Jesus. Jesus, something, someone you don't even believe in and have limited knowledge of. Do you get "brownie points" for your degrading remarks? What do you have to gain? Iif you used to be Christian but no longer are, why should it matter to you? It's nothing out of your pocket. I don't see where your degrading does any good

It's unfair to say that all of us make disparaging remarks on religion or are trying to convert others when the fact is that most of us do not have such intentions. Many of us are simply trying to prod an online debate on an issue that we feel has been mostly one-sided in our society. I mean, how often do you get to hear an atheist's point of view in the news? And how often do you hear a Christians? For some reason, we are made out as social pariahs and taught to be ashamed of our beliefs. We, or at least I do, feel that this is one of the few places where we can share our views on religion without being silenced or made to feel embarrassed about it.

I am a believer, but I also happen to be able to think by myself and decide what is fiction and what is not. A lot of things in the bible make no sense but that doesn't mean I'm going to convert to another religion! My faith is in God and in the principles Jesus taught us to follow. Believing in a different way still mean you believe, and you've got to try and respect that.

Since when did discussion of Religion & Spirituality require one to be religious or spiritual? That's as stupid as saying that you have to be of royal blood to patricipate in the Royalty section.

And to be fair, I see enough remarks in the science sections disputing valid scientific theories or generally spouting "it is God's will, who are we to question it" and the likes so what right do you have to moan about it? It's the pot calling the kettle black and all that mallarky.

One more thing, since when did Christianity become a prerequisite for being Religious/Spiritual?

Yea, i understand precisely, i admire Jesus with all my coronary heart, nevertheless, i'm not a Christian person. sure. I do. i understand what you mean. i understand that Jesus loves me and that i, in return, love Him very dearly, and extra..... I fee all His teachings. with a view to journey that, you do not would desire to be a member of a definite faith. i understand that for myself. Jesus is a superb instructor to me and he's an suggestion to my being in many what I do with my existence. i will't say extra advantageous than that, because of the fact in any different case, this placed up may well be too large for the area presented. i admire Jesus, and that i understand that He loves me too. that's all there is to it. And this is totally genuine in the intensity of my coronary heart.

1) Yes religion does cost us money. We have freedom of religion and freedom of the press, but I pay sale taxes on books while you giving money to a social club (this is how your church appears to me) is a tax deduction. Higher taxes for me to exempt your "religious" lands from property taxes. Oh and those "secular" christmas decorations, they send my government the bill for the electricity and to take em up and down.
Also, why do so many christians want a government handout? Faith based initiatives & religious school subsidies, pay your own clergy.

2) Forty years of assorted christians waking me up on Saturdays to give me cheesy pamphlets, of it being assumed that starting the school day with bible scripture is ok, of claims that no athiest is trustworthy because he doesn't think sky father will spank him, and of derision of my belief about there not being a God. One of your boys said something about sowing what you reap.
So tell me do you get brownie points for your degrading remarks? An awful lot of deists act like they do. You know if you didn't feel the need to push your religion at every public event, you'd hear less back. Maybe you should think about taking a cue from the Hari Krishnas, they stopped begging for money in airports and you pretty much stopped seeing Hari Krishna jokes. You want us to stop laughing at you cut that beard, start using electric lights, and stop telling us about how the sun revolves around the Earth.
Stop showing up at funerals you weren't invited to because you need to tell people God hates homos, so he is killing marines. For that matter stop killing people for providing a legal medical service. Stop planting bombs at clinics and bars because of some minor bible passage.

Sure you may not endorse these things, but you have to acccept that these people are under your umbrella, they're your public face. And why is it you never see any of the anti-abortion crowd that will condemn a doctor killer without plugging his anti-abortion message (yes this is deliberately the same as people who talk about imans and terrorists)?

3) Stop trying to teach your religion in public school. Sure even the most backward school board has finally banned scripture readings, but stop pretending that creation science is science. We know it isn't you know it isn't. The same thing goes for genetics, chemistry and geology ( I don't know your particular cult.) The same goes for attempting to rewrite history to claim there is an ark on a Mt. in Turkey, that somehow English common law is bible based, or that native Americans are Jews. Oh, It's not comparitive religion when you just study the bible. It's not world literature when all you do is study the bible.

4) One more, from some of my waitress/waiter friends. Stop leaving bible verses as a tip, you cheapskate. Claimming you're telling them about jesus is the equivalent of cash is just you being cheap. If you're to cheap to tip, go eat at home.

I dislike ignorance.

You can BELIEVE whatever you like about Jesus but don't tell me you KNOW. You BELIEVE. There's a difference.

Nor do you know that nonbelievers don't do good deeds.

Since when does what you spend have to do with how good a Christian you are?

Your degrading what you clearly don't understand doesn't do any good, either.

You don't have to be a theist to be interested in religion and spirituality and want to discuss it.

Also, you do realize that Christianity isn't the only religion in the world, right? It may be hard to comprehend but there are people who believe in a different God than the one you worship.

What has a fictional character done for me lately?

Is that a trick question?

I don't give money, spend time, give aid? Uh....... I think the folks who are wearing the clothes I donated and have eaten the food I've passed out at the free lunches would disagree.

God and Jesus don't exist, and I'm STILL a good person.

SHOCKING, eh?
