Come on now, it is Die Hard and he is John McLane. Of course it is possible. The guy can do stuff that would make me die three to four times and get out of there with a few scratches. Surely he can be faster than a hand grenade.

All military grenades are time-delayed with a chemical fuse similar to cannon or M-80 fireworks fuse, and, give or take a few 100ths, will detonate in five seconds after release of the safety handle and firing of the ignition cap.
