OMG. I have heard that before. "We just need a break." Well, dont know the situation. However, I am still with the person who needed a break. Sometimes it really does mean we just need to step back, and sometimes it means that they are trying someone else on for size. There is no real answer to this question. I really wish there were so that I could help. Just know that people do know how you feel, and it is never a nice or good thing to hear that. In my opinion you should just move on even if it is just for pretend that will get their attention faster than anything else.

It would depend on what went on with it.
Does your partner seem to not want to be seen as being with you - does he/she meet his/her friends without you? Do they treat you differently, more off-handed, less caring of you? How much time do you two spend together, is it much less than before?
Then perhaps you need to sit down and talk this out.
But do they have something else going on with their life - school/work/family pressures? Are you aware of something outside of your relationship that might be affecting them? If so give them the space, but let them know that you are there for them when they are ready. If your relationship is real enough it will be OK.
Either way, when the other person has asked for space, you need to be strong enough to do that.

Not at all! This generally means that at least one of the two is too much possessive of the other and also interfaring in each others personal/individual leisure time (people need some time alone). Not a very serious problem. Try to be a bit practical on that.

Lol, i just said that to this guy who i was going to step into a r'ship with. Ok maybe that's different, as in being in a r'ship and going in.. Nonetheless when I said that i needed some space, i did not mean that it was over, time for both of us to move on. I mean that i feel like i'm losing some of my private personal space. Even when you're totally in love with a person, i feel that everyone would still want their own little private space to be just by themselves. Perhaps that's what she/he needs... A bit of me-time. =)

yeah sure it could mean, like yeah go away, to to hell, but it could either mean, that shes confuse and doesn't know what she wants. to me, it means be a friend for a while, until she knows what she wants. just be there for her when she needs you. giving some one some space doesn't mean don't talk to me, leave me alone, or don't look at me, for me, from my experience, its saying like don't pressure me and stuff, if you really like this girl give her space by being a really good friend and showing her how much she means to you. basically be nice, gentle, and show her that ur really the one for her. If you give her the space, in which you dont talk to her or something, she might realize that your not even worth it?

not necessarily. 1) maybe he really need some space, to think, to put things in perspective. it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't love you anymore. maybe he is just overwhelmed with problems and he has to sort things out.on the other hand, if he tells you he need some space but he goes out with other girls, well, he means he doesn't like you anymore. time to let him go. the point is, ask him what he wants. space to think, or space to choose another woman. it is two very different things.

It depends. Sometimes it means you are coming on too strong. Other times it means they want to break up. Which of these it is depends on what you have been doing and where you are in the relationship.

This one is rough. 90% of the time its the prelude to 'We should see other people' or, 'I want a divorce.' 10% of the time it means that if you give each other sme space it will strengthen the relationship. Good luck.
