We are past the early stages of human development when Statues were thought to be human-like. We are rational people who know the difference. We do not worship the statue. The statue or pictures, etc. remind us of the God or holy person that we can not see and help us to have reverence for God. We do not worship the statue. If you have a picture of your mother in your home, which is more important to you... your mother or the picture of her? Which do you talk too, the picture or her?

Why do you prefer Graphics on the Internet instead of just TEXT? Why are graphics a part of most magazines? Why do we add pictures to school books for children?

Why do we add graphics to instructions?

What is the saying about pictures/Graphics and words?

And, keep this in mind, worship, alone, will not get you into GODS HEAVEN, only what is in your heart and whether you live your live with complete/total love for your neighbor!

Like too many others, too often, you criticize the branch growing out of the eye of others while your eye has the entire forest growing out of it!!

Remove the forest, first, from YOUR eye, then, just maybe, you will be able to see more clearly, what is being seen by others around you!

i thought christians just didnt believe in worshiping false idols like Jesus found in the temple. but i think the cross is a way of reminding them of the suffering Jesus went through, not a statue for them to worship.

When God revealed his divinity to us in the flesh image of his son, Jesus, the prohibition against earthly images of heavenly things became history.

Knowing now what God truly looks like, there is no longer any danger of mistaking idols for God.

Only those who fail to understand this most basic fact still erroneously attempt to keep the old laws, which Jesus perfectly fulfilled and then set aside, and which he replaced with his gospel, his grace, and his church.

Why not chose to fully participate in the grace and freedom of the new covenant, instead of wallowing in the corruption and condemnation of the old?

Christians do not worship the statues of Jesus, they simply keep them around to remind them of the Jesus' sacrafice. They are reminders. pieces of art. they are not meant to be literally worshiped.

A statue or figure may help us remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross, and help us reflect on him better.

You don't worship it.

it is mainly a catholic thing. I do not like the crusifix. protistan churches generaly have a bare cross to remind us Jesus is risen but also what he went through. having had a catholic husband I sill have some things in my home includding pics of the popes which I find iritating.

Why not! One does not have to statue worship to be a good Christian. It is what you do in your life that matters and you cannot generalise on all Christians

Do you have photos? Many people do.
Do you worship photos? Probably not.

A statue is an image just like a photo. It doesn't mean that people worship images.
It's a myth that people worship statues.

Only catholics do that. Not protestants. Protestants have crosses but does not have any image of christ nailed to it. The cross symbolize what christ did for us. It is idolatry to have graven images. I think catholics need to recognize this.
