I'd see a doctor but here's what I know about this condition; My girlfriend had Vitiligo. The only help her doctor gave her was to stay out of the sun. When she was in the sun, which tanned her normal skin areas, then the white patches would look whiter. Makes sense, huh? So if you're going to stay on that swim team better use a strong sun screen. What you have is not pleasant but also not the end of the world. Just stay healthy, strong and keep a sense of humor. And don't give up swimming. If you love to do it then don't quit.

It is more likely you have a benign condition caused by tinea versicolor. It is a superficial fungus which acts like a sunscreen. Where it is present in the superficial epidermis, it shields the underlying skin from UV rays and gives the light patches. Treatment is with Selsun.
See a picture of it below.

Ablsolutely wear waterproof sunblock from now on.
See a doctor and get diagnosed with what you have.
Also, the high chlorine in the pool can be causing some of this.

See a Doctor "dermatologist" FIRST!!!

before you get back in the water if it's hurting your body/skin.
