Not trying to make fun of people, I'm honestly just curious. People who literally seem to have no neck whatsoever - their head seems to rest directly on their shoulders - is this an actual medical condition? What causes it? What is it called? Does it have to do with the spine?

I wondered this too. Especially because Melinda on American Idol doesn't appear to have one.

The neck is really just an extenstion of the spine.

Some people have longer or shorter necks.

Body builders have such big shoulder muscles it looks like they have no neck.
